The Lodge at St Edward Park

This is now our go-to anniversary weekend. Wonderful to explore the hikes in the park or just relax, while eating both brunch and dinner at the restaurant were excellent

Here for a wedding. The entire wedding is waiting after 4pm to get into rooms. Events start at 6. Probably won’t even have a room by then.

Expensive and a big resort fee. Can’t even deliver on the basics. Go somewhere else

Beautiful setting with an opportunity to create a more memorable atmosphere

I chose to stay at The Lodge at St. Edward State Park because of its beautiful location in the state park and because I knew the property had once been considered by McMenamins. Having enjoyed many McMenamins properties over the years, I was curious to see how this hotel would compare.

The location is outstanding, and the building itself is impressive. It is clearly positioned as a luxury hotel, and it succeeds in many respects. However, I left feeling that it was missing some of the warmth and character that make certain historic properties truly memorable.

The hotel seems to be reaching for a similar feeling with Father Mulligan's Bar and the Tonsorium Bar, but both spaces felt a little too modern. I think these areas would benefit from a more timeless, elegant style with traditional furnishings and a cozier atmosphere. Luxury doesn't have to mean contemporary—sometimes older, classic design creates a much richer sense of place.

Since this is a luxury destination rather than a pub-focused hotel, I wouldn't suggest making it more bar-centric. Instead, I'd encourage the management to put even greater emphasis on relaxing amenities like the pool and sauna and on creating inviting spaces where guests naturally want to linger.

What McMenamins does so well is create an atmosphere that is difficult to define but easy to feel. My overall impression is that The Lodge could become something truly special by asking, "How do we capture that same sense of warmth, history, and discovery—but interpret it in a more refined, upscale way?" If they achieve that balance, this could become one of the Pacific Northwest's standout destination hotels.

We stayed here 4 nights. Excellent unique hotel converted from a seminary. What an experience! Very fresh and well maintained. Nice time, beautiful surroundings. Very clean. Some true almost museum like exhibitions. High quality restaurant and breakfast. Highly recommended

My stay at this lodge was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the beautiful property, peaceful surroundings, and incredible attention to detail throughout the entire guest experience.

The lodge itself is stunning thoughtfully designed, impeccably maintained, and perfectly situated to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The rooms were comfortable, and offered the ideal balance of luxury and relaxation.

What truly sets this property apart, however, is the staff. Every team member I interacted with was warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely committed to ensuring guests have an outstanding experience. Their hospitality made me feel valued from start to finish.

The amenities, dining, and overall atmosphere exceeded expectations. Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway, a special event venue, or a place to reconnect with colleagues, this lodge delivers on every level.

I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already looking forward to my next visit. I cannot recommend this property highly enough!

This was a magnificent place to stay. The lodge itself is a beautiful historic building. The grounds and surrounding park are stunning. We enjoyed an evening walk as well as an early morning hike along the trails. The staff is top notch. Every single staff person was extremely courteous and helpful. Our room and en-suite were designed with pure comfort in mind- no luxury was spared. This resort offers endless possibilities for activities and enjoyment for all ages. You won’t want to leave!

The coffee maker overflowed the mug provided multiple times when following directions for making coffee. While the black face towel was a nice touch, it took several washes in the sink to get black dust out of the washcloth and make it useable. Both charging stations next to the bed did not work for the USB-C or USB spots and we didn't realize this until morning when our devices were fully depleted of battery instead of fully charged. All of this combined made the stay highly disappointing and I'd expect much better quality for what I paid for a suite. When I pay $500 for a suite, I expect everything to be high quality and working properly. I needed to stay a second night and chose not to book again at this hotel because of the negative experience I had. The other local Hilton hotel room I booked nearby for the second night was only $200 and was of significantly higher quality. When I first checked in, I was thinking I'd bring my family back after traveling on business because the property was so lovely. By the time I got to checkout, I had a very different view. I will not be bringing my family back, rebooking, or encouraging any of my friends & colleagues to book here. I've been a loyal Hilton customer and this experience negatively impacts my view of Hilton.

The history and present culture of the lodge Is an amazing thing. The amenities and food are top notch along with the ambience. Plus it’s a good bang for the buck!

As a longtime Hilton Diamond I’ve stayed at numerous hotels. This was my first time staying at an SLS property and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The hotel is a beautifully restored and remodeled Catholic seminary. The rooms and grounds are very well maintained. It is located in a State Park and the setting is lovely.

The history of the property is interesting and there are lots of photos documenting its past. Rochelle at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the property’s history and even showed us yearbooks from the seminary’s school.

I also received a room upgrade as a Diamond member. I highly recommend this hotel.

After seeing a few videos about The Lodge on TikTok, I booked a long weekend stay for my mom and I. All the staff (valet, front desk, servers, etc.) Were friendly, helpful, and professional. And all the food and drinks (coffee, cocktails, and cocktails too!) Weather tried were delicious with quality matching the high standard of the property as a whole. We'll definitely be back!!

Be sure to book the history tour—you get to ring the bell in the tower!

We live in Seattle and knew of St Edward's Park but have never made the 30 minute drive out to the lodge. Shame on us. What a lovely get away without a long drive. The room had a comfortable king bed and while smallish, it had everything you needed. There was a library where we could play games and grab snacks just down the hall. We played pickle ball before our departure and enjoyed drinks at the Tonsorium Bar (very creative cocktails) and a good menu.

We got a great deal through a gift card and if an opportunity presents itself again, we would gladly go back.
