Taxis into old town were sometimes hard to come by and expensive.

Lack of available sun beds due to towels being laid and residents not seen for hours.

Cleanliness was poor in our apartment specifically the couch and walls.

A full length mirror in the apartment would have been useful.
I think we would also have enjoyed a drink at the roof top bar after midnight if it had stayed open a little longer.

Unfortunately, almost everything else was disappointing. The room was not clean when we arrived, and the staff was unfriendly and not very helpful throughout our stay. The dinner buffet was below expectations, with poor food quality for a five-star hotel. My girlfriend also booked a hair removal treatment at the hotel spa, but it had no noticeable effect and was a complete waste of money. While we were sitting outside having coffee, a maintenance worker was working above us and dirty yellow water suddenly poured down, soaking my girlfriend and almost damaging my laptop. Nobody apologized or handled the situation professionally. At the rooftop pool, there was no staff attending the bar and no one available to open the sun umbrellas or assist guests. Overall, the service and attention to detail were far below what you would expect from a five-star hotel.

The hotel is very large and rather soulless. Staff (apart from Iva the concierge) were pretty abrupt. We paid a lot of money for a 2 bed suite with a hot tub which only got warm on our last day and the jets did not work at all. Seemed to be a consistent issue as our neighbour in a similar room had the same problem. Not worth the extra money for the hot tub.

This was our honeymoon trip and we’d done a lot of back and forth with the hotel due to some vital allergen requirements we had. They were so great in the communication that we actually cancelled another hotel and extended our stay here. Upon arrival, the person checking us in did not welcome us, congratulate us on our honeymoon and was not aware of the safety requirements that had been promised. The person was rude and immediately stated they couldn’t guarantee what was offered. We asked to speak to the manager and was told they didn’t know where they were or when they would be back. We headed to our room only to find food had been left (despite being agreed that we did not want this due to the severe allergies). We managed to speak to a bar manager who was very kind and arranged for our room to be recleaned and aired accordingly. Despite confirmation this was done, it was not as my husband had sat in the room waiting. The cleaner eventually did show and did a quick reclean but at this point it was 2hours later we were getting into our room. Nothing other than 1 free drink was offered and no one followed up to check with us that everything was okay. We then contacted the hotel via email and asked for a response by the following day (allowing just under 24hrs) and this did not come through until later with a claim that the phones had been down in the hotel and they weren’t able to contact us. (No one came to our room or tried to reach us at other places like our spa booking). Eventually we met with the guest liaison who we had first communicated with via. Messages before our stay and a free pedicure was offered for me after our asking what else would be done (initially there was nothing offered). Suffice to say this was not enough reparations for what we had experienced.

Exceptionally uncomfortable beds. Sofa bed with springs jutting through.
Curtains hanging off rails - asked staff to fix as too high. Didnt do that.
Not enough large towels - only two for four people.

Terrible shower - extremely poor volume of water flow from shower head and hand held making showering a time consuming and unpleasant process - a biproduct of being a Green Hotel saving water at expense of paying guests being able to have a decent shower. Only one lift to service all the floors resulted in considerable delays at times. Apt block was somewhat detached from main building and entrance requiring use of two separate lifts and a bit of an internal walk. Toaster in breakfast area terrible. Spa tub found dirty and not usable during our stay. View partially blocked by main building in front. Lack of privacy if able to use spa or when on balcony or in living room due to opposing rooms overlooking the apartment building from the separate adjoining building of the hotel in front which also partially blocked the ocean view by about 40%. No insect screens on any doors. Pool on apt rooftop caused noise through ceiling at times.

Our room balcony was a little bit unkempt and have ants so that could have been improved. Other than that, everything was great!
