Professional property host/manager
All the staff were very friendly, professional and they really knew their job. The food was excellent and the dinner I had was the best vegan meal I've had since I went vegan 5 years ago!
The room was comfy with a gorgeous bathroom.
Plenty of parking space
The room was a bit dark, but actually in the heatwave we had at the time, that was fine.
The car park is quite steeply sloped, which is not so good for motorcycles, but the surface was fine.
Absolutely Fantastic location and amazing staff!!!! Thankyou x🥰
All very good. Staff are excetional.
Nothing.
This spot is just gorgeous, the service from the staff was impeccable, they made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. The room was well equipped and great value for money. It felt like a real treat! Oh, and the food.... INSANELY GOOD!!!!
The room above me was quite noisy, but that cannot be helped by the hotel. Also, it would be nice to have some additional fresh fruit alongside the fruit salad at breakfast. Maybe some apples, bananas etc.
Everything. Always a welcome and friendly staff. Thank you!!
Nothing
Beautiful although very rural location - Myself and my partner stayed as we were competing in the Newport Marathon and the staff were so helpful organising an early breakfast on the day of the event and looked after us during our stay
Lovely location and lovely room. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing tasting food but very small portions on the mains my husband had 3 courses and still didnt feel full. Drinks are a little overpriced.
Breakfast was disappointing not quite continental, no bread rolls and the croissants were cold. The room was very nice, comfy and quiet the only thing that let it down was the drainaway in the shower was blocked. Again staff terrific.
Dinner a little disappointed, after the menu the last time we stayed, which was exceptional, this time nothing special or different. Acc
Exceptional service- Alison was so friendly and welcoming, food was incredible and the rooms were exquisite- every small detail just blew me away. Set in the middle of nowhere so peaceful with amazing views I would come back tomorrow if I could
Beautiful room
Lovey food
Great staff
Very nicely decorated and comfy .. in good weather location idyllic
Our bedroom was up external stone steps no problem at all if young … well lit at night also handrail … but for older people not ideal .. bedroom and bathroom lovely .. there are lower level rooms too
Great location, middle of nowhere, right on the River Usk and so peaceful. A cosy atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area with good views over the river - would have been perfect if the fire was lit.
The room was beautiful with lots of touches that made it extra special. Comfy cushions and throws, coffee machine, robes and slippers, loads of luxury toiletries, dyson hairdryer and fan, dimmable light, umbrella (as there is a short walk from rooms to restaurant building) etc. A shuttle bus to and from the Celtic Manor if required. The large shower and rolltop bath with tray made it perfect for us, as I love to bath and my husband prefers to shower - but room for both of us in each!
We opted for 3 course set menu for dinner which was amazing. Starters and mains were well presented, and desserts were enormous. Reasonably priced drinks too. Continental breakfast is served with a fair choice of cereal and pastries, but a cooked breakfast would have been preferred.
We can't wait to come back in the summer and sit outside with our drinks.
The only negative I have to mention is the wood flooring in the rooms. Not an issue in our room as we made use of the slippers, however the person in the room above sounded as if he prefered heavy boots from 7:30am.
What a lovely little gem of an hotel! Set out in the countryside for a calm, relaxing experience out of the rat race. Absolutely amazing staff, each and every one of them friendly and welcoming. The place is clean, warm, and inviting.
The restaurant is set out with little areas to sit apart from other guests, making it personal and relaxing.
The à la carte menu was what was on offer the night of our stay and it was amazing, presented well and very tasty. Be prepared for the bill at the end. Two people starters, main, desserts, 2 small wines and 2 pints £167.75.
I would recommend staying as it's a lovely place just check the menus online so you have an idea of the costs.
Great hotel, the room was fab and the staff were all lovely.
As vegans, we couldn’t eat there, at all, so we found alternative a food venue. Also, the cold taps in the room were so noisy! We were woken by the noise of next doors tap.
Location
Room was dark and rather hot with no access to window to open. Fan supplied but not ideal.
Coffee / tea making facilities were in wardrobe. Had to unplug other things to make drinks. Plugs not easily accessible.
Continental breakfast was nice bit not luxurious considering price.
Lovely cosy rooms
Although we knew in advance the breakfast was continental, I still think the offer could be improved even if hot food isn’t an option for them
We booked the dinner bed and breakfast deal, superb value for money. Our room was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. Dinner was delicious, and the continental breakfast menu is extensive, with lots of choice. The staff were excellent and made us very welcome. Alison, Marius and Jodie were professional and friendly and made our short stay memorable. We will definitely return.
What a gem! We only stayed for a night but it was really comfortable, loved the decor and breakfast was simple but delicious. Would love to go back for a longer stay ☺️
The coffee machine in our room didn't work and you can't watch netflix on the TV.
Lovely location
Great place
