I've visited Stanly Ranch Auberge four times over the past few years and have previously written glowing reviews of the spa. After this most recent stay — a Mother's Day staycation with three other local moms looking to fully unwind — I find myself not being able to recommend an overnight stay on property.
Check-In & Guest Experience
Despite being the only guest at the desk with multiple staff present, there were no welcome drinks offered, no overview of the property, and no mention of the day's events or offerings. I had submitted one special request prior to arrival: an upgrade, which is part of my Amex FHR benefits. It was dismissed without discussion — I was simply told a Rambler upgrade wasn't available, despite the resort being nowhere near capacity and having dropped prices all week. When I proactively asked about an Arbor room, they accommodated, but placed us in Room 75, which has virtually no privacy — golf cart paths on three of its four sides. This is a recurring theme in reviews of this property, and I can now confirm it firsthand.
Room & Key Logistics
About an hour after check-in, we received a text that our room was ready and that keys could be delivered to us. We responded that we were at the spa pool — and then heard nothing for two hours. When we finally walked to the front desk ourselves, we were told the keys had been delivered to the spa, but spa staff hadn't brought them to us. A small miscommunication, but emblematic of the coordination gaps throughout the stay.
Noise concerns:
My morning on property was far from relaxing. A crew of 8+ weed whackers began vineyard maintenance around 7:30am in close proximity to the guest rooms, forcing my in-room breakfast patio moment indoors. When I headed to the spa for a 10:30am relaxation class, the crew had moved directly outside, making it nearly impossible to hear the instructor over the noise. This went on for four straight hours. With better planning — completing the area near the spa before it opened, then moving toward the rooms in the afternoon — this noisy disruption could have been avoided or mitigated.
Spa Service Cancellation
I received a call just one hour before a scheduled spa service informing me the attendant wouldn't be available. No offer to reschedule, no gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience was disappointing.
In-Room Details
The in-room breakfast arrived with a missing dish. The mini fridge drawer ran loudly throughout the night. Small things — but they add up.
The Spa Itself (Still a Star)
To be fair: the spa facilities here are genuinely gorgeous. Better than any bay area or other Auberge property I've visited, hands down. But even here, small touches that elevated past visits were missing — the quality wooden cups in the heated area replaced by hot stainless steel, no warm weighted neck towels, and shower amenities that were unstocked or empty.
The Bright Spots
The food on property remains excellent, and the ranch hand staff were consistently warm and friendly throughout.
Bottom Line
Stanly Ranch has the bones of a truly exceptional resort, I work in construction and have always appreciated the eye for detail and finishes. This is a resort that not only photographs well, but the construction details are executed top notch which I really appreciate. This stay revealed too many gaps in execution to book another overnight in the future — especially for guests expecting the attentive, restorative experience that the property promises. I'll return for the spa, but I'd encourage others to explore other Napa Valley options for overnight stays until the guest experience catches up to the facilities.
We stayed beyond our business event for a number of days and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of Stanly Ranch ... accommodations, dining, recreation ... everything was delightful! The staff is superb.
Everyone on property were always with a smile and very friendly. Lorenzo or Antonio would be there to welcome us back or help us to our room. Breakfast and Dinner at Bear were AMAZING! Vida is a great bartender and makes the best drinks! Food was coursed out well and I never felt rushed. Food was always hot which you would think it not need to be mentioned, but there have been so many times at restaurants where the food is cold or luke warm. On the go, Gavel was fantastic. Great baristas making HOT lattes and the lavender bun is a must! Looking forward to my next stay with the team!
Stanly Ranch is fantastic. We stayed at the residences, which were thoughtfully designed for all types of groups. It is conveniently located in Napa near the airport and easy to get around. The rooms were exceptionally clean and attended to and included amenities and check in gifts (pastries, snacks, drinks) that made our stay excellent. Highly recommend the spa as it is priced reasonably for a luxury resort.
My younger brother got married at Stanly. It was amazing. We even brought our 7 month old with us and Stanly was able to provide a crib, baby shower stuff and they recommend the most amazing nanny for the welcome party and the wedding!
We also got to enjoy the kid pool!
Beautiful rooms and great amenities (heated floors, big bath tub, outdoor shower, nice personal patio, great plant coverage keeps it cool and creates nice aesthetics), top notch service too - room is super stocked and turn down service nightly always has a unique experience. Loved our stay!
It was a truly amazing and memorable stay. The property is beautiful and spacious, and the staff were attentive, warm and friendly. I highly recommend staying here for unparalleled service and luxury accommodations.
We absolutely loved our stay at Stanly Ranch. The rooms are lovely, the staff and service are top notch - everyone is so friendly and warm and sincere. We loved our breakfasts at Bear and had a great time. What a gorgeous resort; our kiddos loved the stay as well. Perhaps our favorite resort in all of Napa!
I am not someone who often splurges on hotels while traveling, but I have to say this was a real treat. I really felt like this was a special experience, and compared to other high end name brand luxury hotels, this was something truly unique and worth the price tag. Would definitely stay at another Auberge Collection hotel/property again.
I was here for a wedding and even though it rain the entire weekend and was chilly, we still had a fabulous time. From being greeted upon arrival and checkin to a friendly reminder to visit again, we always felt welcome and more like family. We ate at Gavel and The Bear- both serving some of the freshest food I’ve ever eaten with very friendly and attentive staff. The grounds were impeccable. Our cottage was beautiful and the heated bathroom floor was a nice surprise. Don’t forget to take an outdoor shower- it was so refreshing. The vista and Mountain View’s look like paintings With its proximity to Napa, this lodging should be included as your place to stay.
It was a lovely stay! Love Auberge resorts and Stanly Ranch was unique and very fun to stay at. We love other properties and added this one to the list. Great for quiet but also great for family and friends vacation together.
Truly enjoyed our time at the Stanly Ranch In Napa. Great property, great service and perfect for a short getaway. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Kids had a great time in the pool and exploring the property.
Second time visiting Bear. Amazing service and food as always. We will be back:
We had a luxurious stay at Stanly Ranch with our two kids for spring break. Staff were friendly with quality service, on-site experiences (Hawk Talk and Feed the Chickens) were fun/engaging and so convenient. Food was delicious and the pool scene was relaxing and very spacious. Loved the warm welcome note with treats and small touches provided for the kids (small bathrobe, slippers, and amenity kit w/ stuffed bear).
Pricey stay, but you pay for the quality service and amenities. So take advantage of the guest experiences as much as you can.
My primary complaint was the room tub, there's no slope to sit back and relax (a must for the parents).
Our stay made me curious in looking into the other Auberge properties!
We were here 4 nights for a conference. New [4-year old] property.
Highlights: spa, pools [gym was ok.] Terrific staff & service . Sleep quality was fine: comfortable bed, and the place is very quiet at night. Housekeeping did a good job 2x a day- $10 tip we normally leave was built into the room rate. Our villa’s outdoor patio had a nice gas fireplace for evenings- it was baking hot during day because the gazebo provides no shade. Nice walking paths from the property and plenty of great hikes in the area. Town of Napa was a 10~15 min drive and has tons of great food options ranging from Oxbow Market, to Slanted Door, and of course all the wineries.
Reasons for 4-star not 5: Rooms were a mixed bag: HVAC controls were klugey and had trouble handling the wide day to night temperature swings. Rain shower was more of a drizzle; so was the handheld. Someone sold the developer lots of technology that’s already failed for instance the power shades. Conference food was terrific, breakfast at Michelin-starred Bear was very rich for our tastes: lots of butter and cheese, but service was great.
Beyond exquisite experience, we were taken care of from the moment we stepped on property until our departure with the utmost attention to detail. Amenities were top tier and the staff were delightful. Food (scallops!) was delicious and the resort is incredibly kid friendly. The spa experience is one of my favorites in the Napa Valley. Can't recommend enough to families, we'll be back soon!
This place was recommended by a friend, and it did not disappoint. Beautiful grounds, tons of amenities, a plethora of activities to try, and wonderful service.
Stanly Ranch exceeded our high expectations. We stayed two nights, but wished it were two weeks. Service, rooms, decor, and food were all impeccable.
Such a beautiful spot! The food and service are amazing. The accommodations are beautiful and well appointed. Dreaming of when I can return.
We just returned from another incredible stay at Stanly Ranch over New Year’s Eve, and once again, they exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our family’s experience truly special. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, from the warm welcome to the personalized touches throughout our stay. The property is beautiful, the amenities are top-notch, and the atmosphere is both relaxing and festive—perfect for ringing in the New Year. We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to return. Thank you to the entire Stanly Ranch team for making our stay so unforgettable!
