You can't help but be impressed by the building, how they've renovated it, and its history, and for that reason it was a memorable stay. Bodmin, though not a tourist destination, is well located for travellers who want to explore north, south, east or west Cornwall. There's a Sainsbury's nearby and some pubs and an Indian restaurant.
I felt the breakfast was fine, but slightly disappointing for the amount we paid to stay there. It was essentially no better than a breakfast in a chain hotel, perhaps worse. On the first morning they'd shoved a round table in a square seating area so we hardly had room to sit, and some of the cutlery had stains on it. They forgot to put baked beans on our veggie breakfast, and we had to ask for toast. If you get up and make toast yourself they provide this cheap looking sliced bread. The room was okay but there wasn't much wardrobe space for two people, and if you don't like dark lighting then it probably won't be for you, as there are only small windows above as it used to be a prison. The bed wasn't comfortable; it had this monstrous brick like pillow which I wasn't sure what to do with as I certainly couldn't relax on it, and then a thin pillow on the top which wasn't enough after I'd removed the brick. Over all, not somewhere I'd go back to for the hotel, but glad to have stayed in such a historic building on one occasion.

Uniqe and different. The hotel is amazing. New and very clean. Team is helpful. Dont miss the tour at the prisin section.
Location was great. Only a few mins walk to Sainsbury’s. Staff were fantastic and very helpful as it was my first time at Bodmin Jail hotel. The guided tour at Bodmin Attraction which is outside the back of the hotel was the best tour I have ever booked myself onto

Everything. It was wonderful.
Absolutely everything was perfect
The actual building was fantastic and has been very tastefully renovated. Rooms, which would have been 3 cells, were large and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet. The bathroom was large and has a bath and a large separate shower. The WiFi was good and there was free parking.
The restaurant was pleasant but despite having stated before arrival that several of our party were vegetarian, there was only one vegetarian dish which wasn’t suitable for everyone. The staff were excellent and did their best to remedy the situation, by making a dish which wasn’t on the menu. They were polite and despite our telephone call prior to arrival hadn’t been informed that many of us were vegetarian. Don’t make the mistake that we made by not ordering a side dish with either the meat or fish, which made the meal inadequate and too expensive.
The breakfast was excellent
All local produce
I expected better coffee in the bedroom like a coffee bag
The room was very comfortable
Staff friendly and helpful
Excellent with a great choice

The hotel is very modern, clean and contemporary. The staff are pleasant and informative. This weekend, I believe the hotel was somewhat overbooked. I was not able to book a table for dinner that night and I had to wait 20 minutes to queue for breakfast the next day. I had been contacted by the hotel earlier in the week I think, but I was unable to return the call on that number. The number on the website also did not connect. Whilst waiting I got the impression that the hotel preferred that people booked via their website, the staff introduction differed from mine booking via booking.com.
The dinner service facilities although very pleasant, they were not big enough for the night that I stayed.
Bit of a wait for breakfast.
The food was excellent. The modernisation of this ancient building was a good balance of keeping the character with modern comforts.
Personally I found the small windows oppressive, but totally to be expected in a jail!
