Barceló Margaritas Royal Level Adults Only

Me and my partner went here with a friend for 10 days which was very much needed. Travel to and from the airport was easy.

On arrival we were greeted and was given welcome drinks. They spent time talking with us and giving us information about our stay which included activities, food and restaurants and whats around. We were told our room wasn't ready as we arrived early but they had a complementary room where we could get changed and ready to go get some food.

Once we were able to get into our room it was very clean and spacious. Bed are comfortable and plenty of space for clothes to be packed away.

Problems with the room.

- the coffee machine was not working we ended up getting a new one out in on which did not work very well either.

- the air conditioning was okay could be better the room never felt cold enough.

- i did see a few reviews about the door within the room that has a gap into the corridor i did notice this. This did effect some noise levels in the mornings but wasn’t a massive problem

The pool area was lovely and relaxing on which me and my partner enjoyed. We spent most afternoons here. The drink service is amazing. Only problem we found with the pool is that it was too warm to feel refreshed and the showers pushed out hot water. But still enjoyed.

The food on the evenings were great. The themed evenings, staff and atmosphere was great. We spoke to many other people who said they feel relaxed.

I suffer from allergies which can be difficult for me but the staff team were very good to attend to this. Every day i would arrive and a member of staff would walk around with me and let me know what i could eat and couldn't. Some days my food was made from fresh rather than picking from the counter due to risks.

Only struggle i had was having an oat coffee but really wasn't a big deal. This was because i had worries of cross contamination.

Over all the royal level was amazing. Very relaxing. Staff very attentive. And what we paid for it we are extremely happy

Nice hotel (Adults Only Area), great staff. Room was comfortable but would have liked the bar to be refreshed as part of the all inclusive package and not charged as extra. Buffet was quite good quality with various options but as with any hotel buffet over the period it does become repetitive. Pool service could be slow at times but the staff were great, just lacked the numbers to cater for everyone at times. All said and done we would return again.

The rooms at this hotel are great, but there are a number of issues, as a family of 6 we have paid a lot of money to have our first big holiday. The issues are you can only have a pool towel once a week, the pool life guard are so strict you are not allowed any music ( at low level ) at the side of the pool or drinks at the side of the pool, gym shut not in use. The 24hrs bar (adult section) shuts at 11pm makes you feel like you are back in school, no 24 hrs facilities available as advertised. The flooring around the whole pool and restaurant Is all broken and needs fixing.

So disappointed in our stay. Not happy at all and would not return. Was looking forward to a family holiday but it really spoiled by our experience here!
Plus side nice clean rooms…. However really not a 4 star hotel!

After a previous amazing holiday at a Barcelo hotel in Fuerteventura we decided to stick with this chain for our adults only holiday in Gran Canaria this summer.
Unfortunately in no way did it meet the standards of what we had experienced previously.
I will say the reception team were great, the maid service good and the pool man was attentive.
Instead of a double bed we had two single beds pushed together. There was a distinct smell of drains whenever the taps/shower/toilet was used.
The restaurant is outside and needs a serious amount of fly zappers to attract the insane amount of flys away from the food as there were a lot of them and no efforts were made to rectify this issue.
Only a very small number of the dishes were labelled (annoying as I am vegetarian so had no idea what was suitable for me), and a minimum amount of allergy information was displayed.
Food choices were limited and not replenished quickly, so you were often looking at empty dishes.
The restaurant service was lacking in terms of drinks orders being taken and generally having the feeling of being looked after.
The cocktail presentation was really disappointing compared to Fuerterventura, just the minimum effort here.
If you wanted to relax and have a drink in the evening you had to go to the family side of the hotel which wasn’t the vibe we were interested in.
The decking was broken around the restaurant and looked a mess. I see in previous reviews the management have said they will rectify this but nothing has changed. There were enough loungers but the pool looked tired and in need of a refresh, nothing luxurious here.
The pool towels could only be changed once during your stay and then only between 10am and 12pm, which was rather unhygienic.
The entertainment area of family side of the hotel was too close to the adult only area and was noisy day and night, not a very relaxing experience.
Another reason for booking this hotel was for the gym facilities which turned out to be an absolute joke. It was in a tiny unit (ridiculous considering the size of the complex), situated in the family side of the hotel with no air conditioning, one bench, a few cardio machines, a few tired looking miss matching free weights and 5 random machines. When we went to look at it there were a lot of unsupervised children inside playing with the machines/weights. As well as being dangerous this was probably a contributing factor to over half of the equipment being either broken or out of order. (Highly recommend going to Stark Health Club just down the road instead).
If you want an amazing experience and service at a Barcelo hotel you can forget Gran Canaria, instead spend your money at the Fuerteventura location.
Our first ever disappointing holiday.

Heerijk comfortabel Hotel voorzien van alles wat je nodig hebt om lekker tot rust te komen. Uitstekende ligging en ‘s avonds/ ‘s nachts heerlijk rustig. Prachtige ruim en zeer schone kamer, zeer vriendelijk personeel. Wat mij betreft een zeer ruime voldoende.

Our stay at this all-inclusive hotel was truly exceptional. Every aspect, from the quality of the food and the impeccable service to the welcoming atmosphere, exceeded our expectations.

A special mention goes to Luisa, the Italian staff member, whose professionalism, warmth, and genuine kindness made our experience even more memorable. Always approachable, knowledgeable, and cheerful, she was consistently available to assist with a smile and made us feel valued throughout our stay.

We highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a relaxing, high-quality all-inclusive holiday. We look forward to returning.

Unfortunately, the hotel failed to meet expectations overall. This isn't my first visit, but there has been a noticeable drop in standards. I can't say exactly what the cause is—perhaps the new manager? Sadly, there was far less food than usual, and the service was very slow (likely due to understaffing). The biggest disaster was the broken floorboards in the walkway between the two halls (the path leading to the bar); several boards were broken from age, and a "Caution: Slippery" sign had simply been placed there! It was a disappointing experience, especially given that I am a regular guest. I’m afraid the time has come to stop staying at your hotel.

I stayed here in 2024 and decided to come back because my wife and myself really enjoyed the hotel and the area. Really disappointed to see so many broken slabs and tiles around the hotel and pool area . One path between the dining area and outside area was really bad. It's a path made with decking material, and it was badly worn and had holes in it. The room , staff and food I have no complaints with . In our experience this was as good as the first visit. We've been to other Barcelo hotels and I'm sorry to say this hotel now falls below that Barcelo standard . What needs done isn't a big job and would make a massive difference. Sorry to say we won't be back

Apart from breakfast meals at the royal
Level have been lukewarm at best. The out side area is tired and in need of repair. Broken tiles around the pool and broken wooden boards in the restaurant area and sunbed areas. This is not a 4 star location. Service is ok, staff are ok but have been more friendly. This hotel is not the same standard as others in their network.

Here now , as of yesterday you can only change your towel once per stay which I think personally isn’t very good you may have been to the beach now towel full of sand or you have had a week or two 🤮of now towel change this isn’t acceptable on whatever board your on but when u pay for royal level would expect a towel change everyday .think this is a bad move . Mini bar isn’t replenished at all once you arrived . Service isn’t great they try hard but not enough . Wouldn’t come back to this hotel been to better .i could say more negatives but this is my opinion.

Positive

* The shower towels and pool towels are large and of excellent quality.
* The mattresses and pillows are very comfortable.
* The cleanliness throughout the resort is outstanding.
* The hotel app is efficient, easy to use, and makes handling requests very convenient.
* Poolside drink ordering and delivery service works very well.
* The staff are professional, discreet, and attentive.

Areas for improvement

* Airport pickup was confusing. No one was waiting for us at the airport, and there was no sign when we arrived. After about 10 minutes of searching, someone finally placed a Sunweb sign at the MTC front desk. The voucher mentioned going to the MTC desk, but this was not stated in the email, which caused confusion.
* The air conditioning cools the main room well, but the bedroom remains a bit warmer.
* The refrigerator in the room does not keep drinks cold enough.
* The gym needs maintenance. Two of the three treadmills were out of order, the pull machine was broken. There is no air conditioning, it was too warm.
* Soundproofing could be improved. Noise from neighboring rooms, balconies, and the air conditioning unit were noticeable.
* The room door does not seal properly around the edges, which may contribute to noise and reduced insulation.
* There is no water refill station. Guests have to request bottled water, which is limited to 0.5-liter bottles.
* The coffee machine in the room was broken, and the replacement one did not seem to work well.
* The meal service opening hours could be more convenient (earlier).
* The beds are comfortable but too short for taller guests.
* Housekeeping occasionally forgot to replenish coffee capsules and hair conditioner.

It was very clean, peaceful and relaxing. Everything was close and accessible.

I’ve just returned from an 11-night stay at Barceló Margaritas Royal Level, and overall I had a fantastic holiday.

The Royal Level upgrade was definitely worth it for me. Having access to the exclusive pool area made the experience feel much more relaxed and premium, with plenty of sunbeds available and a quieter atmosphere compared to the main hotel areas.

The hotel itself was very clean and well maintained. My room was modern, comfortable, and cleaned to a high standard every day. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, hardworking, and always helpful.

A special mention has to go to Luisa at the Royal Level bar. She was consistently professional, kind, and genuinely caring throughout my stay. She worked incredibly hard every day and her excellent service really stood out.

I also want to give a big shoutout to the entertainment team — Maria, Nico, Sophie, and Odio. They were fantastic and clearly put a huge amount of effort into making every day enjoyable for guests. Their enthusiasm, energy, and friendliness really added to the holiday, and they did a brilliant job.

Food was good overall, with a decent variety across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was always something to find, even for fussy eaters. Drinks selection was also solid, especially as part of the all-inclusive package.

Location-wise, the hotel is in a good spot with regular shuttle buses to the beach and easy access to Playa del Inglés and Yumbo Centre.

The only minor point for improvement would be slightly more variety in some of the evening shows and a few of the earlier daytime games. That said, this is absolutely not a reflection of the entertainment team themselves—they were excellent and worked incredibly hard with great enthusiasm.

Overall, I had a brilliant time and would happily return. A great choice if you’re looking for a relaxing all-inclusive stay in Gran Canaria, especially if you go for the Royal Level experience.

We are currently staying at the Barcelo Margaritas Royal Level for adults only. We are pleased with the cleanliness, the rooms and the food but we are very disappointed with the entertainment, which we feel is non existent. For example Saturday night was 'Mr Barcelo' which consisted of the entertainment team and guests competing. It was infantile to say the least. We complained to the hotels assistant manager who said that they are offering a relaxing holiday and noted our complaint. We will not be booking this hotel again.
