Good design, relentless noise, slow and ineffective service

Cons:

Very disappointing experience for a hotel marketed and priced as a five-star resort.

We booked more than two months in advance and specifically requested a quiet room. The hotel confirmed this request, yet we were placed directly above the bar, with loud music until around 1 a.m., followed by cleanup noise, and activity starting again around 6 a.m.

The poor construction/noise insulation made this considerably worse. There were visible gaps around the doors/windows, and outside noise entered almost completely unfiltered. We could hear conversations from people passing on the street word for word, as well as virtually every car and scooter.

When we raised the issue, management initially declined even our simple request for earplugs. We were later offered another room, but only for two nights of our seven-night stay, requiring us to move back again afterward. One pair of earplugs was eventually found by the cleaning staff; proper assistance came far too late to be useful.

Unfortunately, this reflected our broader experience with the service. Requests were slow, forgotten or passed on because reception staff repeatedly told us they had no authority and needed management approval, while management was unavailable.

The final example came after departure, when we realized we had left two jackets behind. Despite offering to pay all costs for shipping them to Italy, the hotel simply refused to arrange shipment and told us to organize an Italian courier ourselves to collect them in Greece.

Two days after departure, management contacted us offering a discount on a future stay. What we actually wanted was competent handling of the problems during our current stay.

For a small family-run property, some limitations would be understandable. For a five-star resort at this price level, the combination of poor sound insulation, extremely disruptive noise and ineffective problem resolution was simply not acceptable. We would not return.
