I was very disappointed with my three-night stay at Courtyard by Marriott. I paid approximately $1,000 for the stay, so I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness, service and overall experience.
Unfortunately, the room did not feel properly cleaned. The carpet was visibly dusty, and the glasses, plates, cutlery and coffee machine also appeared dusty. These are basic things that should be checked and cleaned properly between guests, and it significantly affected my confidence in the overall cleanliness of the hotel.
The room also had a very small refrigerator and did not even have a basic corkscrew or bottle opener. I called reception to request a bottle opener, but it took more than two hours to arrive, despite me following up once. That level of service is disappointing, particularly for a Marriott property.
I also decided not to try the food or coffee downstairs. The overall environment did not feel clean or welcoming, and unfortunately, the presentation of the hotel did not give me confidence that the food and coffee would meet the standard I would expect.
For around $1,000 for three nights, I simply don’t believe the experience represented good value for money. Cleanliness and basic service should be fundamental, and in my experience, both fell short.
I would not stay here again unless there were significant improvements in cleanliness, service and attention to detail.

The room and bathroom were sparkling clean. The room had everything to be comfortable.
The location was convenient.
The gentleman who checked us in was wonderful. He suggested we get the buffet breakfast at the hotel & it was amazing. We enjoyed the food a lot.
The only thing I did not like about the hotel were the pillows. They were not firm enough and I had trouble sleeping.
It was away from hustle and bustle. We got to explore a part of Melbourne CBD that we would not normally have.
It was our 18th wedding anniverary so we requested a view.. but did not get one.
The hotel is in a very central location, making it the perfect choice if you are arriving by Airport Express Bus. It is also very well connected to public transportation, making it easy to get around the city. A beautiful park is located right next to the hotel.
The hotel is new, and the rooms are modern, comfortable, and well equipped. The breakfast buffet offers a great selection of high-quality food. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help, making the stay even more enjoyable.
