No money. No Investigation. No Empathy.
Cons:

I have been a regular guest at this hotel. In the past month alone, I stayed here three times and recommended it to many friends. After my last experience, I can no longer do that.

After checking out, we were informed that I had left my wallet in the room safe. We returned to the hotel within 15 minutes. When I opened my wallet, I discovered that more than €1,500 was missing.

I did not accuse anyone of stealing. My request was simple: help me understand what happened. Conduct an internal investigation. Review the CCTV footage. Explain the procedure for opening a room safe after a guest has checked out and whether a formal record is made when personal belongings are removed.

Instead, the manager immediately said he hoped this was a joke. For more than 20 minutes, I was not allowed to finish a single sentence. We were constantly interrupted, not listened to, and when we pointed out how disrespectful that was, the conversation turned into outright gaslighting. Instead of trying to establish the facts, we were made to feel as though the problem was us.

I never asked to see the CCTV footage myself. I simply asked the manager to carry out a basic internal investigation - to review the recordings, determine who had access to the room after we checked out, and clarify what had happened. That is exactly what an internal investigation is for.

Instead, nothing was done. No review of the CCTV footage. No attempt to establish the facts. No explanation of the procedure for opening the safe. The only response was: “It is not our job to explain how things work inside the hotel.”

What surprised me even more was something else. I was told that they contacted me because there was “a considerable amount of money” in my wallet. This raises a very simple question: why were hotel staff counting the money inside my wallet in the first place? Personal belongings remain the property of their owner, regardless of where they are left. I left my wallet inside the room safe.

Pros:

My husband and I always stay at Dormero whenever we visit Budapest, and we come back quite often. The location is perfect, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning on our next trip. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

Cons:

Nothing I don't like however a bit of a suggestion is to offer coffee/tea in the room. Mini bar does consist of few complimentary drinks but would also be nice to have a hot drink in the room.
