We absolutely loved everything about our stay. We were genuinely amazed to find such an exceptional boutique hotel in a small town like Briones. This place is a true hidden gem.
The design is outstanding. Every detail has been thoughtfully created using beautiful, high-quality materials, and you can truly feel the passion and love that went into restoring this historic building. It is elegant, warm, and full of character.
Our room was incredibly spacious, with a beautiful bathroom, an exceptionally comfortable large bed, and every detail carefully considered. The interior design throughout the hotel—from the rooms to the hallways and common areas—is simply beautiful.
The wine bar deserves a special mention. The wine list is outstanding and perfectly reflects the region. We also loved the terrace on the second floor, where we spent the evening relaxing with a glass of Rioja while watching the sunset over the rooftops of Briones.
Breakfast exceeded our expectations. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and prepared with outstanding local ingredients. Every bite was delicious. The lady serving breakfast was incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable.
The entire staff was exceptional. The gentleman at reception took the time to tell us the fascinating story of the hotel and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Everyone was professional, friendly, and passionate about what they do.
The location is perfect—just a short walk from Briones’ beautiful main square and historic church, making it easy to explore one of the most charming villages in Rioja.
This is one of those rare hotels where you can truly feel that it was created with love, respect for history, and genuine care for guests. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip through northern Spain, and we would return without hesitation.

The only suggestion we would make is to consider offering a small wine tasting experience. Since the hotel is located in the heart of Rioja and has such an excellent wine list, it would be a wonderful opportunity for guests to discover different local wines before choosing a bottle. We believe it would perfectly complement the hotel’s unique atmosphere.

Everything was super!!! Beautiful room , very good breakfast. Super nice and helpful stuff. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was fantastic !!! Strong recommendation.
Breakfast on a second date was a bit worst . Maybe it depends on a people in the kitchen ? It was still good , but on the first day it was exceptional !!
Das Frühstück war wirklich außergewöhnlich; lediglich beim Kaffee ist noch Luft nach oben (man kann nur Espresso ordern; wem dieser zum Frühstück zu stark ist, bekommt ein Kännchen heißes Wasser dazu ...)

We hadden een fantastisch verblijf in Santa Maria. De kamer is prachtig ingericht met een zeer comfortabel bed. Het ontbijt was van een hoge kwaliteit en erg gevarieerd. Het personeel was heel vriendelijk. Maria was zeer behulpzaam en gaf ons tips om bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving te bezoeken. Dit verblijf zullen we niet snel vergeten!

The location at the centre of Briones, an authentic hilltop medieval village surrounded by Rioja vineyards is super. The nearby church is a must visit. What really stands out though is the way they transformed a historic building into a luxurious comfortable hotel. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. They deserve their Michelin star. The staff was extremely friendly and were happy to share their knowledge of the area and its history.
The only set back was that it was not easy to get up to the property on the narrow steep roads, especially in a big car. It won’t keep us away though. A stay is not cheap but still value for money. There are a fair few extras included.

A gem of a hotel in an medival village. Exceptionally well refurbished and very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is a feast for the eyes and stomach.
