Old fashioned country inn, but pleasantly surprised to find updated rooms with good facilities, including a tower fan . ( a necessity these days with the continental weather we are having. ) Staff smiling and helpful, food good with chef coping under pressure.
Initial impression exterior due redecoration, so inside and rooms really good.
I loved the decor the the lovely chef and the lady in the morning doing 3 jobs at once.
Very clean and comfortable
It was warm upstairs and no aircon.
Amazing shower and large parking area. I appreciated the owner's attention to food waste.
The staff were excellent.
Ian was a very hard working Manager who kept the pub/hotel running smoothly.
All the staff worked hard to welcome you but Larna was exceptional.
We had to book for an evening meal and we were glad were did as it was very good.
The pub was the hub of the village. All the locals were very friendly and helpful.
The pub is ideally placed to visit the local steam railway, Harrogate and the RHS Gardens.
The Liverpool to Leeds canal is 200 metres away and there is nice 5 mile walk along it to Skipton.
We had a fantastic stay and will come back.
Ian was on his own, on weekdays, serving and cooking breakfast. This meant after taking all the orders he'd disappear for 30 mins to cook it.
Therefore during this time there were no refills of hot drinks and if you arrived whilst he was cooking you'd have to wait until he'd finished to order a drink and your breakfast.
When breakfast arrived it was well cooked and delicious and served on hot plates.
More staff is a must during the week. Ian is working as hard as he can but he needs help at breakfast.
Very nice room, good facilities.
Very nice staff.
Due to very hot weather the room was very hot. No fault of the hotel, more to do with the weather.
Lovely clean room, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent food both in the evening and breakfast.
Difficult to find a negative.
Ian who does breakfasts is a top guy. Nothing a problem.
Noise off main road but that’s unavoidable
Just a short drive from Malham nestled in a lovely little village about 4-5 miles from Skipton. Breakfast was worth waiting for and the staff were friendly
and helpful. Although the main menu was a little limited, there’s a few different options and food was good quality and plenty of it.
On-site parking was very useful and although for us the weather wasn’t right during our stay, it had a good size beer garden which looked fab.
Very hot room (a fan would have been helpful and maybe with climate change all hotels will need to consider A/C - at a cost of course), and on a major road with very early farm traffic, which meant we were left with a choice of traffic noise or a hot sweaty night - we chose windows open and accepted the noise. Although an inn the main bar is quite small and got very busy so on a couple of nights we were in other rooms with less atmosphere. Saying that it’s obviously a local hub, which is great.
The property was well located. Staff welcomed us on arrival, showed us to our room explained fire procedure to us. Asked if we wanted to book a meal for the evening. Very friendly. Room was lovely tea and coffee available comfortable bed lovely hot shower. Very clean.
Nothing to dislike
Cute location and amazing service
Friendly - good location- good evening meal
Breakfast slow no fruit
Breakfast was fine, disappointed in evening meal, room was ok.
Evening meal consisted of fish and chips, served within less than 10 minutes, and was warmed up food very crispy. The answer from the member of staff was it was cooked at 180 degrees and he offered me to come and look to see if it was fresh. Then didn,t offer chance for dessert.
Food absolutely lovely
Breakfast was of the finest quality and the location was in an excellent location for exploring The Yorkshire Dales.
The bar could have been a little quieter, but wasn't an issue.
Great location for our activities, room was spacious and well-appointed. Nice range of beers, good food and friendly staff. Our room had a fridge which was very handy following our visit to the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes.
