Lovely stay. Thank you.
Pros:

Perfect location…just steps away from the train station. Lovely historic property that has undergone some very nice renovations, with more to come. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with modern as well as traditional amenities. No iron or fridge in my room, but I didn’t miss them. There is no lift, but I received cheerful help with my bags up the stairs. Staff was warm and welcoming…if not ever present.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely stay hete again.
Pros:

A very friendly hotel within 3 minute walk of the station, The King's Arms hotel is excellent. My room was a good size, airy and comfortable. Staff were super friendly, including finding my jacket that I accidentally lost.

Hotel is in a great location. Excellent Sunday carvery.

Cons:

Nothing to criticise, the only thing that could've been better is maybe a later checkout time than 10am. Didn't impact me as I was out early anyway, but for some people this may be an inconvenience.

A wonderful warm welcome in a very special hotel.
Pros:

we had a large double room which was exceptionally nice and luxurious, it was spotlessly clean with beautiful decor and facilities. The bed was very comfortable we had a great nights sleep. The bathroom was superb with a beautiful bath and a fabulous shower. Food at the Kings arms is excellent, I had the full Scottish breakfast both days and it was delicious. Bar staff and waiting staff were all extremely helpful and welcoming and friendly. The bar was well stocked with interesting whisky and well kept beer.

Cons:

Nothing, apart from lacking a private car park. The public one which is free to use is just along the road beside the hotel. The only other thing that was dissapointing was the fact that we were only staying for two nights. We will certainly be back.

Room not as nice as our previous visit. Adequate but could be better.
Pros:

The hotel is in a good location. Plenty of free parking a short walk from the hotel. The room was a good size. The bathroom was clean with a good shower and hot water. The evening meal was excellent.

Cons:

Uncomfortable bed. Dated fixtures/furnishings. One bedside light kept going off on its own. The other bedside light was tatty. The carpet in the bunkroom had recently been replaced but the other carpet was older and more worn. The plug sockets were not accessible as they were behind the bed. Room 4 is not as nice as room 11 where we stayed 10 days earlier. The double room had no door to separate it from the bunk bed room so when someone visits the bathroom at night the light shines straight into the bedroom waking everyone up. Also the bunk bed is very unstable.

Nice welcoming hotel in a good location.
Pros:

Warm welcome and a good range of beers in the bar (albeit I'd have preferred to be able to have a Caley Best or other heavy type option instead of John Smiths.) The Drygate Seven Peaks was a really good IPA so I stuck to that. Daughter said the Guinness was really good and my wife loved her Malbec. Bed was really comfy and you had all you needed in the room.

Cons:

Room was clean, however there was some mold in the bathhroom, which would benefit from modernisation. Also a loud nose outside all night, sounded like a turbine winding up, came in waves and disturbed our sleep. We weren't sure if it was linked to the hotel or a neighbouring building.

Better than expected!
Pros:

We had fab modernised room.room 2 Even had a hairdryer. Unusual for a 2 star.
Downstairs is old fashioned as expected. But room 2 was great.
Shower was all new n clean, but water pressure wasnt great .
Overall as a stop off for 1 night this was a good choice.

Cons:

Only complaint was shower

Not what I would expect for the price
Pros:

Staff were friendly. I was able to extend checkout for 2 hours for £10. Use of garage to put my car. Bed sheets were clean

Cons:

The room was tatty. Wallpaper scraped off the wall. lamp flashed on and off and was peeling, hole in the sink. A tiny bottle of body wash was provided but nothing else. I had a meal but it was £17 and not at all worth it. Tasteless and shrivelled vegetables. Noisy generator outside the window. Toilet dripping water once flushed. Very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom so it was impossible to leave the light on
