The Velvet Lodge

The hotel was in very poor condition. At 11 p.m., we discovered that our smart key no longer worked, leaving us unable to access our room. We had to call repeatedly and spent almost an hour trying to reach someone before finally getting a response. Fortunately, a Booking.com customer support agent assisted us in resolving the issue.

In addition, we were assigned a room on the top floor where the air conditioning was not working. One of the windows had no curtains, making it difficult to sleep comfortably. The room door did not open and close properly from the beginning of our stay, and several shower tiles were loose and not properly attached to the floor.

Overall, the room was poorly maintained, and the lack of assistance and basic amenities made our stay very disappointing.

No code received then when arrived there was no-one to receive us as all done remotely. We got anxious that we would not be able to get into our room and because we had limited time to shower and get ready for our event. It didn't help that there was no response when we tried calling the number indicated. We had also already tried to contact the hotel via Whatsapp a few hours earlier.

Ik lag recht onder het dak, de airco was kapot, er kon geen raam open, er hing geen gordijn voor het raam, geen kast aanwezig, geen waterkoker of koffieapparaat, geen toiletartikelen, deur gaat moeilijk open. Het was bloedheet en men deed net alsof het een verrassing was dat de airco kapot was terwijl er een brief met “Defect” op hing. Hoop niet dat er vanavond iemand moet slapen

Don't expect a fully staffed hotel. We saw someone on check in but otherwise there was hardly any staff around. This also means there is no opportunity for breakfast.

De vloertegels in de badkamer waren allemaal kapot en bewogen als je er op liep

Eén van de geboekte kamers had geen werkende airco. Deze kamer was niet comfortabel om in te slapen.
Het hotel liet telefonisch weten dat hier niets aan gedaan kon worden op het moment zelf.

The carpet on the floor was covering up uneven and a few places holes in the (wooden?) floor below. Door between sleeping room and bathroom could not be closed.

On a warmish night, you could not open any of the large windows, and the airco did not work, and when I reached out via WhatsApp (the only way to connect to the staff / hotel) I got no response. Also, despite the room being very big with two large double beds, there was no cupboard space, and no rack on which to hang coats, suits, etc.

Our room was a bit odd in that it had a large transparent dome on the ceiling but no window in the room. If you want to sleep in past sunrise, it will wake you. There was a window in the bathroom.
