The Hotel is in the City Center and easy to find. Supermarket, Cafes and other stores nearby. A cute bag with shower items, extra tea, extra coffee and a few different treats were given to us, very sweet. The staff is also very very nice and for the door you set your own code for opening it at night, which is really cool, since you may be able to remember that more easily than a given code.
The vibe of the Hotel was a little strange. Maybe it is because it seems quite old, but I also have some things I just didn’t like.
The shared bathrooms to the left after you walk up the stairs have no soap and no paper towels and don’t look very clean. Outside of the ladies bathroom the carpet was stained, like it leaked into the Room 1 next to it.
In one room there was a yellow (piss?) stain on the wall, right next to the bed. There was a strangers hair on the pillow as well, even tho that’s not a deal breaker, since that just happens. But still, it makes one wonder if the sheets were changed at all.
The tv/fridge cables were plugged into an extension chord plugged into an extension chord - dangerous. Those were under/next to the sink too.
No fault of the hotel at all, but the location is quite loud. Loud street, a tree with (it feels like) hundreds of birds on the other side of the road that barely stop chirping and, since it‘s near Queens/Tav, loud drunk people on the weekends.
No breakfast included
Cleanliness
I hate to say this… nothing.
It was filthy. The room stank (room 2), the carpet was stained and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in forever, the walls were dirty, the sink was clogged, the roof fan was dusty, there was a mouldy object in the corners underneath cupboards, the floor had rubbish behind the beds/under the fridge, I could go on… the men’s bathroom was the worst of all - this hotel should not be available for stays until it is properly cleaned.

Old rooms and the shower to
Hey, it's cheap and the bed was clean and comfortable. Guy running the accommodation seemed to have a sixth sense and could see me before I knew he was there around the hotel area. Just fixe up the bathrooms and windows in the common area and it would be my preferred stop over when just wanting an overnight stop while traveling to cairns and back.
Loved the country homey feel to the place. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
Some minor and major renovations would improve the property.
Location and the hallways were recently painted. The only staff member we saw was courteous.
There was only one functioning shower, no hot water over two days, one functioning light in the toilet area and the accommodation area was the only part of the hotel that was open.
