Moxy NYC Lower East Side

As with most hotels in New York square footage in the room was at a premium. There was nowhere to lay down and open our medium suitcases other than on the bed. Less than a metre from the bed to the wall on all sides. The room facilities were small but very useable. The bath sink was in the entry area of the room and had to be taken into account when entering or exiting the room. The facilities were very funky though.

La poca chiarezza su alcuni servizi, per esempio non siamo potuti salire in terrazza nemmeno per fare solo una foto, perché avevamo un minore con noi. Se lo avessi saputo, avrei scelto un altro hotel, poiché la terrazza aveva contribuito notevolmente alla scelta.
Idem per la caparra. Alla reception ti dicono che serve una carta " solo per garanzia" , poi al check out ti ritrovi con 1700 dollari in più, oltre ai 1400 dollari della camera, che la banca ti restituisce dopo un bel po' di settimane. Noi abbiamo fatto un viaggio per tutta la east coast e in tutti gli hotel: da Washington a Boston, dalle Niagara Falls a Philadelphia non abbiamo mai avuto la stessa problematica. Non mi lamento per la caparra in sé, ma perché non mi è stato comunicato prima quale sarebbe stato l'importo e che sarebbe stato anche più elevato della camera da pagare in se. Se lo avessi saputo prima avrei fornito un'altra carta, dato che con la stessa dovevo anche pagare il noleggio auto. Solo questo, un po' di chiarezza.

Spesso problemi con la chiave e con la stanza che non veniva pulita. Abbiamo dovuto sollecitare più volte. Poi tutto ok.
Peccato che i minori (anche se con i genitori) non potessero salire al locale sulla terrazza.
Nota negativa: ho ancora 700 dollari bloccati sulla carta di credito anche se ho saldato il conto al check out con un’altra carta di credito. Fastidioso come usino le carte negli USA

avoid at all costs! This hotel operates a blatant financial scam. After checking out, they slapped an unjustified 500 dollar smoking fee onto my bill, claiming an automated sensor went off. I do not smoke, and the only thing in that room producing vapor was the clothes steamer they actually provide in the room's closet. No staff ever came to inspect the room, no physical smell was verified, and no real evidence exists because no smoking ever happened. Do yourself a massive favor and book literally anywhere else unless you enjoy being randomly extorted.

There´s barely any space to hang your clothes :(( Also, they charged me $500 for a smoke fee claiming that we smoked in the room when neither non of us smoke. We got a hold of the manager and complained and they took off the $500 fee but guys beware, because I heard this is happening alot in NYC hotels and if definitely happend to us. Besides that everything was great.

The toilet/shower setup is extremely uncomfortable: there are no proper walls, just a sliding door built into the “wardrobe”, so there is zero privacy. Not what you expect for €250+ per night. The morning queue for the lobby toilets confirms that it’s uncomfortable for everyone.

We were also charged $7 + tax per bottle for two bottles of water without any indication that they were not complimentary: no minibar, price list, or warning. Considering filtered water and coffee were provided for free, this was completely unexpected. When we complained, they refunded only 50% and handled it with a poor attitude.
