Front desk staff very friendly
Was undergoing refurb so not a great look but understandable.
Sunday breakfast was really quite poor. Felt like the cheapest ingredients were used.
They are making good progress with the renovations
The door locks. Didn’t feel particularly secure.
The hotel is having extensive renovations and should not be taking reservations. It was cold, and I doubt anyone would eat in restaurant with all the pdust about. In my opinion it should be closed until renovations are complete.
Cold no facilities for coffee etc although I believe restaurant could be used but not encouraged.
Bathroom had been refurbished but smelled of drains.
Full Scottish breakfast was good. Don't bother with the buffet!
Wifi did not work. Bathroom smelled of drains. Ridiculously oversized pillows were uncomfortable. Room apparently was refurbished but the funiture looked like it was from a charity shop. The plastic chair didn't fit under the desk while sitting. No curtains and the blind drawstring was over 7 feet high - only tall people can reach it.
The breakfast buffet selction was pathetic.

We knew in advance about major renovations so not really placed to comment on cleanliness. Having said that our room was clean and acceptable

Perfect location for a stop over en route to the highlands
We were advised after booking about some refurbishment being done in the hotel , we wasn’t advised it looked like a building site , with equipment left all on the landing and hall way leading to our room , wall paper strippers were left lying about with leads still plugged in , surely in this day and age just close the property for a week , whilst undergoing a refurbishment
Meals were excellent. Rooms clean. A lot of remedial work required in room. Room 204 have to be locksmith to get in. Toilet seat very unsecure ..

Save yourself the stress, the misery, and the wasted travel: do not book this hotel.
After a brutal 12-hour drive, we arrived at the property expecting a warm welcome and a bed for the night. Instead, we were met with complete incompetence. The front desk casually informed us they had "no record of the booking" and that there were zero rooms available for us. No accountability, no attempt to make things right, and absolutely zero empathy for our situation.
Because of their failure, we had no choice but to turn right back around and make a grueling 4-hour drive home in the middle of the night.
To turn away guests who have traveled half a day due to your own administrative failures is beyond bad service—it is completely unacceptable. This place is untrustworthy, unorganized, and thoroughly unprofessional. Avoid them at all costs unless you want your travel plans completely ruined.
Spotlessly clean. Lovely comfy bed and pillows. Good bedding. Shower and bathroom great.
No carpet on stairs due to building work in progress.
