Wait until renovations are done before you book
Pros:

3 course dinner was delicious, friendly reception lady at check-in, comfy bed.

Cons:

Massive renovations made parking an inconvenience, with contractors and their vehicles everywhere and blocking reception while I tried to check in. Arrived ill and had to park and bring luggage in from overflow parking, then asked for construction work to stop at 6pm when hammering was still happening below me. Walked a maze, up and down stairs to get to the room. Cheap plastic toilet seat was broken, as was cold water sink tap. Couldn’t get the included breakfast as I would’ve been late for the airport.

Fifty shades of grey
Pros:

Pleasant staff

Cons:

This is presently a building site rather than a hotel. Some areas should be a hard hat zone. After booking 6 months in advance we were given a few days notice of some ‘exciting refurbishments’ but gave no warning of the state of the premises. We were given a room in an annexe which had been recently refurbished but was an accessible room with an en suite designed for a wheelchair user, so the shower and sink were at the wrong height for able bodied users. The room smelt strongly of TCP. The waste bin was full of beer cans.
The hotel refurbishment seems to involve painting every surface in various shades of grey, inside and out., which made for a very grim appearance.

Finding room difficult having to navigate through the corridors reading directional sheets on the walls, just a pity abo
Pros:

Location and the friendliness of the staff

Cons:

It was unfortunate that the hotel was going through a major refurbishment at the time, the room was clean/tidy and it was only really the poor sleep (could be mattress/pillows!) that made it disappointing

Pros:

The staff were lovely. The only problem was the pillows were uncomfortable but that was an issue due to neck pain, so easily resolved by bying new pillows that suited.

Cons:

Liked most things, so no complaints

Disappointing
Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

We arrived to the property and it was like a building site , no signage on the doors on how to enter the building , no prior warning to inform us of the works being completed on site, we came from North Wales to stay for two nights. The water pressure in the toilet was very poor , had to flush it about 5 times to ensure it was cleared. We stayed here last year and it was great, very disappointed this year.

Pros:

Hotel should not be in use. It is like a construction site at the moment and the cleanliness and health and safety of the main hotel is shockingly bad!

Not a good experience. we will be very reluctant to return.
Pros:

We were aware that reconstruction was taking place but the whole property was a terrible mess

Cons:

There was no out side lighting at night especially on the main entrance stairs and entrance - this was an accident waiting to happen .

1979
Pros:

Hard working staff.

Cons:

The hotel is mid throw of a refurbishment to bring it from 1979 to 2000. Poor signage around hotels as the entrance was drying plasterboard and poorly lit. Poor health and safety with wood and tools left open to anyone despite no workers. Dirty carpet, just too rundown and not value for money. Staff did their best under circumstances. Maybe amazing in 12 months.
