I would like to make a formal complaint regarding my recent booking at Illinois Hotel in Sydney from 20 June to 21 June.
My family and I travelled from Brisbane to Sydney and arrived at the hotel at approximately 3:00 AM. We were travelling with two young children, including a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old. Upon arrival, we were unable to access the hotel or collect our room key.
The hotel staff later informed us that the hotel closes at 3:00 AM and that room keys can only be collected before that time. However, we arrived exactly at 3:00 AM and were standing at the hotel entrance, yet the hotel had already been closed before the stated closing time. As a result, we had no opportunity to collect our room key or access the accommodation we had paid for.
We were never informed in advance that the hotel would be closed or that there were restrictions on late-night check-in. Had we been informed, we would have made alternative arrangements.
This situation caused significant stress and hardship for my family, especially with two young children after a long journey from Brisbane. We were left stranded in Sydney in the middle of the night without accommodation and were unable to find another suitable hotel immediately. The experience was extremely upsetting and inconvenient for all of us.
To make matters worse, despite being unable to access the room through no fault of our own, we have not received a refund for the booking.
I am extremely disappointed with the way this situation was handled by the hotel. We paid for accommodation that we were never able to use, and the lack of communication and assistance was unacceptable.
I kindly request a full refund of the booking amount and ask Booking.com to investigate this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and a fair resolution.

We got the house and it was very clean, the amenities, exactly what was shown in the pics
Big back yard that gets great amount of sunlight
Perfect space for a group of 6 of us, ample amount of space around the house to relax on your own
Check in check out was super easy with the staff
The aircon filters need a clean but other than that, everything about the 3 bedroom house was great!
It’s personal preference but if you don’t like soft thin pillows, I recommend you take your own which I did.
Despite the things, it did not affect our stay in a negative way but thought I’ll mention it

Close to our function. Public transport at the front door. Meals very good and the staff were very good from when we arrived to when we left.
More hooks to hang clothes in shows and the water on the floors of the showers. On the roadside the windows could be double glazed to cut down road noise.

The place was filthy, stuff unfriendly, room without proper ventilation , shared bathroom was dirty. The queen room I booked for 130 AUD/night was extreme noisy , on request to change to a less noisy room I got a single bed room and was promised a refund of the price difference 40 or 30 AUD (the stuff was not sure how much) and I'm still waiting for the refund confirmation not to talk about the refund itself.
