The massive bathroom
Nothing
Liked the character of the rooms and the building, staff were welcoming and friendly.
Nothing on the Booking.com site warned me that this is a sports pub. The bar area is almost all taken up with a darts alley, a pool table and 2 large screens. The pictures suggest an old fashioned inglenook type pub with armchairs etc but that was not the case. The outside seating areas are quite nice but need a bit of attention, especially the plants.
We had the standard double room which is extremely small with wall hooks to hang clothes. As it was just for one night this was not really a problem but there was no room to move about and the small step inside caused us both to trip. The bed was very comfy although there was noise from the garden below until the place emptied. There are no staff on site once the pub closes.
The breakfast hamper was good and the fridge very welcome although, as had been noted elsewhere, the tea making area is tiny and the kettle high up.
For guest safety a handrail on the staircase would be helpful. Also a non-slip shower mat and warning tape on the small step inside the room.
Sadly the pub did not match up to the expectations derived from the photos and reviews.
The room was amazing and the team were super friendly and helpful throughout
Hate to say it, as we really loved it, but the live music/karaoke which apparently happens some Fridays and Saturdays and went on until close to 00:30 - was pretty noisy in the room, and as we are quite early sleepers, would probably only come back midweek in future…
This is a beautiful, medieval property with tons of character. It is very well maintained and the lovely, spotlessly clean room had a very comfortable bed with a coffee machine, basket full of breakfast goodies and a well stocked fridge. Staff were very friendly too. The location is beautiful, and bars and restaurants are just a 10 minute walk away.

I loved the layout of the pub and rooms. It was so funky. The room was outstanding. The most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in and was very appreciative of the fridge and hamper. Thank you for having me.
There was nothing I didn’t like.
Great location and very friendly staff
It was clean but there were a couple of things that needed replacing in the bathroom like the yellowed loo seat
Room was fantastic location was good for us.. lovely village with a quite location.
Was surprised they didn't do hot food. Love my full English in the morning. They did provide an alternative with a picnic basket full of nice fruit and cakes. Would of preferred cereal.
Such a beautiful historic building in a sleepy town. Very quirky features. Super comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Nice breakfast hamper in the room. The electric fan came in handy on the very warm evenings. Lovely and quiet at night (after the live music ended). Plenty of restaurants within walking distance for dinner and fabulous bakeries serving breakfast if you want something hot.
We only found out about the weekend live music events after we had booked. Our room was immediately above the area the band was playing. Not an issue for us at all (the band was really good!), but could be for others who are expecting a quiet evening, so might be a helpful note on the hotel details.
Locatie en ontvangst. Het ontbijt staat klaar in koelkast op de kamer, dat was prima voor elkaar. hele leuke accommodatie en sfeer.
Het was heel warm op de kamer en die warmte wilde niet weg door het kleine raam.
Quirky Lovely garden.
No food but they recommended a great place for breakfast
Not a lot really.
We had the smallest room, it was very small!!! Very noisy until 12.15am. The tiny bathroom was disgusting, a very stained toilet seat, rusty fittings, a patched up sink. Shower heads had not been cleaned in ages.
The accomodation was very clean and comfortable. It was cleaned and tidied every day with towels and bed sheets changed. Loved the breakfast and was fully restocked every day, loved the daily Freddo.
The low beams were awkward at first, but got used to them very quickly. There was a little noise from the pub, but still slept well.
Room had a Lovely modern twist on a very old property
Picnic basket breakfast was excellent
Nothing all was good
Nice comfortable bed and nice hamper breakfast
Small room with noise from the bar beneath.
Lovely 15th century pub, well -presented & comfortable room, generous breakfast hamper with some sweet treats as a surprise. Great to have a small fridge. Happily recommend.
