Great location in centre of Funchal.
Not a 5 star hotel by international standards, more like a Premier Inn category. They did however, charge 5 star prices for drinks - for example a Channing Gin at the hotel was Euro 12, whereas in the restaurant next door it was Euro 6.95. Hotel has streets on three sides. No noise from persons in the streets, but noises sufficient to continually wake one up started at midnight and continued until breakfast. Uncertain of source, nothing visible in side street we overlooked. Shutting windows would reduce the volume, but in high temperatures it is not feasible. Maybe rubbish collection?

De parkeerplaats was een stukje lopen, 8 min verderop. Geen probleem en het is een veilige parkeerplaats maar goed om te weten.

Besonders gut gefallen haben uns die freundliche und zuvorkommende Art der Mitarbeiter sowie die sehr zentrale Lage des Hotels. Auch der Roofto Pool und die Rooftop Bar waren schöne Highlights, wobei uns dort insbesondere Manny, der Barkeeper, durch seine besonders nette Art aufgefallen ist. Sehr angenehm fanden wir außerdem die Auswahl an drei verschiedenen Kissen für einen individuellen Schlafkomfort. Das Frühstück hat uns ebenfalls überzeugt, es gab eine große Auswahl und besonders das frisch zubereitete Omelett nach eigenen Wünschen war ein schönes Plus.
Nicht so gut gefallen haben uns zwei unangenehm riechende Kissenbezüge, wiederholt fehlende Handtücher und eine einmalig ausgefallene Zimmerreinigung. Enttäuschend fanden wir außerdem, dass die Himmelbetten am Pool vor Ort anders als auf den Fotos positioniert waren und für 50€ pro Tag extra kosten. Unser Zimmer im vierten Stock hatte zudem eine teilweise durch eine Mauer verdeckte Fensterfront, wodurch der Ausblick stark eingeschränkt war, für ein Fünf Sterne Hotel aus unserer Sicht nicht angemessen.
