Unity Malmö - A Studio Hotel

Someone broke in to a residents appartment and the receptionist didn’t seem so knowledgeable to handle it . Also not nice to hear it the first day of your stay
The receptionist confused my card with another couple and they entered our room while we were inside
I think the people that worked there didn’t seem so happy with their work
The receptionists could be a bit more smiley and willing to say hi/ good afternoon when we pass by the reception

Ventilator und Fußleisten könnten auch gereinigt werden. Für eine Duschtür wäre genug Platz . Der Duschvorhang ist nicht so optimal.

Bad ventilation and can't sleep with open window as the noise level is very high (we were in building 1 facing main road).
No shelves in shower.
Quite small room.
The bed against the wall isn't appreciated and the pillows feels old as they were lumpy and one was dirty, which they switched when we requested.

It was on a main road and a bit further out from the centre of Malmö than we had realised but public transport was good
I didn't like that there was a reliance on apps for everything and we couldn't watch the world cup on television because we couldn't connect the TV

Die Lage ist okay. Man sollte definitiv das Rad oder die Öffis nutzen, sonst ist der Weg in die Innenstadt lang. Das Hotel hatte leider nicht genügend Fahrräder zum Leihen, sodass wir auf die Bikes der Stadt Malmö ausweichen mussten. Das hat sehr gut geklappt.

Aanvankelijk kregen we geen duidelijke uitleg over hoe we onze auto konden parkeren. Degene sprak slecht Engels, voorzag ons van desinformatie en gedroeg zich ongeïnteresseerd. De tweede persoon was echter vriendelijk en gaf ons hele duidelijke instructies. Bij de derde persoon vroegen we koffie, wat even duurde, maar legde het klaar zonder dat ze naar ons communiceerde dat het klaar was. Wederom een tikkeltje nonchalant.

De parkeergarage is 10 minuten lopen vanaf het hotel. Heel mooi, maar dat staat niet duidelijk van tevoren aangegeven.

We got the impression that the hotel is very much oriented towards long term stays and our 4-night stay was not relevant to them. The paid parking (which is in a parking garage of a somewhat rundown shopping centre) costs 120 SEK a day and 350 SEK a week, so I would advise people to reconsider this parking if they come for a shorter stay. We were only offered the daily rate, so it ended up quite expensive. There is municipal paid parking on the street in front of the hotel which costs a lot less but we did see parking fines on many of the cars parked there, so it is important to make sure that the parking is paid according to the local regulations.
The biggest issue of our stay was the unbearable heat in the room. The studio we were given was on the 1st floor overlooking the street and the afternoon sun was heating it up for hours, even with the curtains pulled. There was no air conditioning in the room and the window did not open fully. Since the temperature outside was not as high at night and during the morning hours, a fully opened window can help cool down the room significantly. When we asked if the window could be opened fully, we were first told that the housekeeping will come and open it while we're out. When we came back, the window was as we left it. Then we asked at the reception again and now were told that the windows could not be opened due to safety reasons and the only solution they could offer was portable fans. We could clearly see from the outside that the other windows on the same floor were fully opened. The heat in the room was so frustrating because it wasn't even that hot outside, the inside was just heating up over time and not getting cooled down.
After all, it wasn't even the heat itself that ruined our experience, it was the attitude of the staff who was clearly following a policy that short-term guests are less important. This has surely discouraged me from choosing a UNITY accommodation ever again.
