I stayed at The Elser Miami to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately my experience fell far below expectations, especially considering the cost of the stay and the reputation of the property.
Upon arrival, my room was not properly prepared. The microwave was dirty, the TV remote did not work, and I had to contact staff for assistance. Throughout my stay, housekeeping services were inconsistent. I made multiple requests for housekeeping and replenishment of items, but service was delayed and appeared rushed when it was finally completed.
I also found expired items among the snacks and beverages provided in the room, which was concerning from both a quality control and guest safety standpoint.
The most frustrating issue involved billing. After checkout, I noticed charges that I did not recognize and had to contact the hotel myself for an explanation. I was initially charged for minibar items that I did not consume. Although the charge was eventually removed, I was never provided with proof of what items I was supposedly accused of taking. As a guest, I should not have to dispute charges that were incorrectly applied in the first place.
There was also significant confusion regarding credits, refunds, and charges. I was told one amount would be credited to my account, but later received different information from management. Even after multiple emails, I still do not feel that my questions regarding the charges and credits have been fully addressed.
The worst part of my stay occurred on checkout day. The elevators were not functioning properly, creating major delays for guests trying to leave the property. My boyfriend and I were forced to carry our luggage down numerous flights of stairs in order to leave for the airport. Because of these delays, two Uber drivers canceled on us, and we were left scrambling to avoid missing our flight. What was most disappointing was the lack of assistance and concern shown to guests. A simple apology was offered, but no meaningful effort was made to address the inconvenience.
When I later contacted management with a detailed explanation of the issues I experienced—including the room condition, housekeeping concerns, billing discrepancies, minibar accusations, elevator outage, transportation delays, and physical strain caused by carrying luggage down multiple floors—I received a response that addressed only a small portion of my concerns while ignoring many of the others.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the location is convenient, but guest service, communication, billing transparency, and problem resolution need significant improvement. Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay here again, nor would I recommend it to others expecting a luxury hotel experience.
