Excellent also memorable.
Pros:

Location and the character of place . The bar had a good feel and atmosphere about it.

Cons:

It’s a shame there is no parking near by . It’s understanding as the streets are very narrow .

Our stay at the Duke of York, Whitby
Pros:

The location was fantastic and the room was excellent.

Cons:

The Staff were friendly and welcoming, asked all the right questions but didn't act on any requests as required. We were asked if we would like the room made up or just replenished,we said replenished.. but it didn't happen..we had to ask for more tea bags while we were in the bar during the evening.
On our arrival some items on the menu weren't available.
Some items on the Breakfast menu were over cooked ( poached eggs) and some items were served cold ( mushrooms).
The entrance to our room, which was accessed from outside was untidy and unwelcoming, we can appreciate the need for scaffolding, but not the pile of rubbish and we had to step over a pool of cooking fat which was dripping from the overhead ducting from the kitchen, which was also dripping on the entrance door and the handle inside.

Absolutely lovely and would highly recommend
Pros:

Brilliant location. Rooms are big and well furnished with lovely colours and decor.

Cons:

1. We were not advised about booking / reserving a table for the evening and almost did not end up with either a table or food due to the football.
2. Bar staff were initially not very helpful when the above incident occurred until I complained and explained that we should have been informed of the situation when checking in. The situation improved between us during the evening so I don’t want to make a big deal about it but I think this is a training issue and could be looked into
3. The fan in my room was much appreciated but the bottom part of the stand was already broken when I arrived.
4. A summer duvet should have been on the bed as it was a heat wave and summer so although the bedding was beautiful and luxurious, a summer weight duvet or sheet with blanket would have been more appropriate
5. Does the door to the accommodation actually lock? I felt that some security was compromised as it didn’t seem to lock
6. Although I sound grumpy, we actually loved our stay. The staff in the morning were fun and caring. The rooms are beautiful and yes, I will recommend to all my friends

Loved it!
Pros:

Clean, bright and in an ideal place for shops, beach and the 199 steps. Staff were very accommodating, and breakfast was lovely to set the day right. Amazing views

Cons:

The noise early morning. Sounded like cleaners were in using a floor cleaner sweeping and another time banging as if it was deliveries (well that’s what I imagined to try and get myself back off to sleep)

Excellent
Pros:

The room was clean comfortable and had very good facilities, particularly hot weather so the tower fan was much appreciated. Quirky old building, love that.

Cons:

Nothing springs to mind.
