Pros:

Wendy was lovely. So helpful. In fact, I think the staff try really hard to be accommodating and helpful, such as dropping bags off early and scratch cards for parking, when they are clearly very busy cleaning and up and down the stairs trying to assist (there doesn't appear to be a lift). Our room (17) was very clean.

Cons:

The net curtains were a bit thin. My husband said he could see me from outside. As our room was on the ground floor with people passing outside, I couldn't relax getting dressed/ready in case people could see in. This did affect my comfort as I like natural daylight to get ready.

The biggest bug bear was the front door banging shut. It woke us early with people toing and froing. We were right next to it. It's a deal breaker for me in terms of whether I'd stay there again. There really should be a soft close door system. The noise was very disruptive and significant.

Being right next to the front door, we also experienced lots of loud chatter with people entering and leaving, but also stopping to chat right outside our room. I'd suggest some clear signage asking people to be aware of this when returning late, but equally so in the morning. If you want a bit of a lay in, it's impossible. People were talking loudly outside our room from 7am. There's some signage saying quiet hours 10 pm to 7am, but it's not very noticeable, and 7am is still quite early when you're on a relaxing break and want to lay in for another hour or so.

This isn't a hotel in the traditional sense. You get sent key codes, and there's no reception. A couple were waiting outside in pouring rain, unable to get in because they didn't have charge on their phones to access the key code. It didn't bother us, but note to future guests.

A nice stay and would use again
Pros:

Very clean and value for money .

Cons:

No lift if you have mobility difficulties but very grateful the owners moved us to the ground and first floor. Personally not keen on key pads.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, great location for getting around Whitby.
Pros:

The hotel is in a great location. Our room was ground floor which we requested and was quite spacious. The room was very clean and nicely decorated .

Cons:

The bathroom was very small and the heated towel rail was very hot and on all the time making it very uncomfortable when you had to use the bathroom and you kept catching yourself on it as it was so close to the toilet. The television set up wasn’t great, although instructions were left on how to use the 2 remotes we couldn’t get normal T.V. Channels. The room itself was very warm.
