Hotel smells absolutely pleasant and enlightening. Easy parking system. Pretty room with excellent cleanliness.

Best hotel and breakfast in Miri
Pros:

Best breakfast by far in Miri and Mulu region . Nice pastry and kuih selection. The murals by an artist called Jagung were astonishing. Take a picture of the art inside the hotel and view it on your phone later . You'll be surprised . Also , walk around the hotel at the back to fully appreciate art .

Good Sleep on a Firm Mattress BUT Terribly Designed Hotel - NEVER AGAIN
Pros:

I will start with the positives. The "Mercure Hotel" Miri is slap bang in the centre of town. It lies opposite the famous "Ming Cafe" Pub, a cheap place to eat and drink in Miri. The "Imperial Mall" is 5 minutes on foot. "Bintang Mall", which is bigger with obviously a lot more choice, is a longer walkable distance away. But given the heat, a Grab Taxi is more desirable, and will get you there in 5 minutes tops at the cost of 4 ringgits.
The hotel staff at the Mercure are very friendly. There is a rooftop pool and bar with delicious alcoholic and alcohol-free cocktails. Upon checking in, each customer gets a voucher for a free scoop of ice-cream. Despite the strawberry ice-cream being so suspiciously brilliantly pink, it was tasty and refreshing.
There is a fridge in the room but no microwave and Wi-Fi is constant and reliable. There is a gym with one treadmill, one exercise bike, and some weights but overall the gym was too small.

Cons:

So now the really important part. I found the design of the hotel rooms to be absolutely abysmal and not well-thought-out at all! I am shocked that none of the other reviews mentioned the layout of the bathroom. The toilet and bathroom are separated in cubicles with a see-through glass door that either "closes" the toilet or the bathroom, meaning there is no privacy at all when you take care of your ablutions.
I stayed alone in my room, thankfully, but whether with a friend or with a romantic partner, (unless you have a peeping Tom fetish) why on earth would anyone wish to see someone else taking care of their most intimate hygiene?
Just imagine if a member of hotel staff came in to do maintenance, they would be able to see you too!
In addition, the rooms are small, and the walls are paper thin, and I could hear telephone conversations of the customer next door. The swimming pool is tiny and the coloured tiles of the swimming pool floor, makes the swimming pool water look very dirty and uninviting.
Despite my complaints, the mattress was nice and firm, housekeeping did a great job and I slept very well. However, I would never stay at the Mercure again. It is overpriced and offers no luxury.
At a cheaper price, you can stay at the "Pullman Hotel" you have a sea views, enormous bath towels and rooms that are huge, like mini apartments. At the Pullman, the pool is beautiful and the rooms have a microwave. The Pullman is luxurious and beautiful - worlds apart from the Mercure.
