Lovely big clean room. Comfortable bed, good breakfast.
Room was nice and spacey altho the hotel booked us into the wrong room apparently, which was clearly a mistake on there side
Edited due to an unwanted text message from the owner!!
On arrival my booking had been crossed out as if I had cancelled. The lady on reception was lovely but I did give her my full name Atleast twice. Within 10 minutes of being given our room I had had 2/3 knocks on the door. My booking was in question, how did I book? Who with? I had to show my confirmation email, my personal bank account and then because I was now feeling stressed I went to reception and showed my receipt online. Booking.com was blamed for the mix up and I was told they get no end of trouble with the bookings. I went back to our room and started to call booking.com to then get another knock on the door, this was the owner telling me I had been booked into the wrong room. Already feeling really stressed as I had treated my partner to a night away we then got another knock on the door the owner again showing me that two Tanya’s and a Tara had booked.I explained to him that I had given my full name Atleast twice at reception, it’s sorted he said still with no apologies. We where then offered a £7 bottle of Prosecco or a cheap take away. In all honestly I just needed to get out for some air at the time as I was very upset after travelling 150 miles. We where offered breakfast in our room which is pretty standard with no actual apologies face to face. I took the offer of the Prosecco to give to a McMillan fundraiser as we don’t drink. Safe to say after a lovely day at Seaham beach the day was now ruined. On Sunday I opened a dispute with booking.com and have received a vile message from the owner claiming he cannot find the keys to the room which if he checks the cctv before 10am he will see us pressing the buzzer and handing them to a guy with tattoos that was talking to people in the function room, the owning has also said I’m getting nothing from them and claims to have bent over backwards which is also not true. Not even an apology from himself, he has even called us disgusting. NEVER AGAIN
Beautiful room, very clean
Nothing
Spotlessly clean. Lovely breakfast.
Nothing
Location was good, parking on site
No bar or evening food…. We did know this but it would be nice not to have to travel to eat and drink, which given the remote nature of the building is not a 5 minute stroll
Owner and staff were very welcoming , beautiful building and history , great breakfast 👌
Very clean and comfortable!
No issues to dislike
Breakfast was very good indeed. Not so keen on the location.
Bed needed fresh sheets which to be fair was sorted upon request and a bottle of free Proseco thrown in.
Friendly lovely breakfast just stay will be back
Warm beer
The guys were friendly and fun, breakfast was great, room comfortable and a great shower...
Lovely building in a quiet setting, staff were friendly and the place was spotless. Breakfast was lovely.
Struggled to lock and unlock my room door, actually got stuck in my room for a couple of minutes, lock just requires adjustments. The room could have benefitted from having a fridge. The room was okay for single occupancy but would be snug for a couple.
Well thought out decor
Comfortable beds
Superb and friendly staff
Nothing I didn’t like but more variety at breakfast would have topped it
Fine great place for a works stop over and close to Peterlee
The owners were so friendly, it was like living in /welcomed into someone's house rather than a faceless hotel.
Parking was great, breakfast was great, beds are comfortable.
We had a room at the front which overlooked a field. It was a hot day so the windows were open but all you could hear were the kids from the houses nearby on scooters/motorcycles going round and round the field which seems to be the local hang out area.
Can't be helped and not a reflection on the owners or the hotel, just something to be aware of really.
The staff were pleasant & friendly, very helpful.
Breakfasts were tasty & substantial. There were choices & freshly cooked for you.
The room was a good size, clean & comfortable with a modern TV, hospitality tray with biscuits.
Good sized bathroom & lovely shower.
Plenty of Parking.
No chairs in the room, which matters to a 78 and 83 years old. However, one of the staff cleaning a room opposite did give us one chair to use.
TV too modern for us but 'Geoff' came staight up to sort it when asked.
One day/evening there was a funeral/Wake and the next day was a 40th birthday party with loud music. Fair enough, it is a hotel, and the music didn't go on too late.
The staff were lovely and everything was super clean the family room was fantastic and spacious and the beds were very comfortable and the hotel itself was decorated well. The double room was also clean and the bathrooms in both rooms were nice. The breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of choice for my kids who have very limited diets.
We had the double room but the bed wasn't quite a double I don't think because me and my husband struggled to both sleep in it and the room was small to have a double bed. My in-laws also struggled with their door as the key kept getting stuck. We also had a slight issue with other guests being really loud outside but that was at no fault to the staff.
Beautifully decorated through out .
Can’t comment on this one as everything was just brilliant
