Excellent hotel with gorgeous views and food
Pros:

I loved this place! Everything was excellent, the staff, the view, the breakfast, the room was so clean, comfortable bed, had a fridge, coffee kettle, great shower, excellent TV station options with netfli, etc, the dinner restaurant and wines were amazing, just classy and top rated from start to finish.

Great location. Ask for soft pillows
Pros:

Location was excellent. Right next to the train station so didn’t have to drag our bags far. The view from our room was lovely. Reception was very helpful.

Cons:

Mattress was hard. Pillows… omg terrible. Like slats of pine wood. Couldn’t sleep. Finally found softer pillows hidden in closet. Restaurant staff was typical Swiss, meaning a bit rude and sarcastic but they did their jobs.

Great location with stunning views
Pros:

Great location and stunning views if you book a room overlooking the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

Cons:

The hotel is pricey, but I assume this is fairly standard for a hotel of a similar level in Wengen.

For a 4-star hotel, I would have expected a little more from the breakfast. Don’t get me wrong—it wasn’t bad, but it was still rather simple, with good-quality yet somewhat limited choices.

A few things are worth keeping in mind: although breakfast starts at 7:30 AM, the kitchen serving eggs doesn’t open until 8:00 AM. This is especially relevant for hikers who want to start their day early. Also, you can’t help yourself to a hot drink; it is served by the staff upon request. This isn’t really a problem—just a different way of serving breakfast than what you might normally expect.

Finally, while the building has been renovated, it is still an older property, so the soundproofing isn’t great and you can hear your neighbours. Fortunately, most guests seem to go to bed before 10 PM, presumably so they can make the most of the beautiful surroundings from early morning. 🙂
