Staff was so nice and the rooms were spacious.
Pros:

Stunning views, staff was so friendly and made us feel welcome, free arrival and aperitif drinks. Cool natural pond was refreshing. Restaurant was very cute and fancy at the same time.

Cons:

We need at least two fans in the room during the summer

Staff and location were fantastic. No A/C, bad beds, & pillows very poor.
Pros:

Staff were great, very helpful and friendly. Location was excellent also!

Cons:

No air conditioning. We were provided a noisy fan - no good when trying to sleep.
Our bed was 2 single beds pushed together. We asked for a double but it couldn't be provided.
Pillows were flat, quite uncomfortable.

Zero Customer Service Grading
Pros:

Right from the get go this place was not a warm welcome. The staff at the front desk needs to learn customer service practices and understand how to greet people. Upon arriving we were informed by our tour operator that the rooms were not air conditioned, and each room would only get a single table fan!! Are you seriously kidding me? The ownership of this facility should by all means prepare for the weather conditions. Instead they dismiss anything you come and ask for. It was so hot, we needed to shower right away before dinner and to request extra towels, the front desk manager gave me a hard time for asking!!! I understand that it is a vintage hotel, but either they have had bad experiences with different visitors and the rest of us have to be the recipients of bad reception. We needed a hot iron to remove wrinkles on our clothing, but If I wanted the iron in my room, I would have to leave a $25 Swiss Francs deposit?? And now for the kicker, I called the front desk at 06:10 AM and again the same front desk manager answered the phone indicating that the front desk is only open from 07:00 AM and he should be charging me $50 Swiss Francs for disturbing him. What hotel in the whole wide world does not offer front desk staff 24 hours a day. All I wanted was another set of towels to shower in the morning, but this individual yelled at me for asking?? I have been seeing a change in attitude from years ago, when the Swiss people were friendly and welcoming, instead this manager and his group are pathetic and will gain zero recognition from me. I will make sure that anyone coming into town is aware of better hotel accommodations which there are plenty of by the way.
Now, let’s move over to dinner. Our tour gave us two choices for dinner, chicken or fish, so I selected the fish and quickly realized that it was a mistake. The so called “fish fillet” were two pieces no bigger than two quarters!! With a bunch of green to fill out the plate. I even turned around to our waiter and asked if this was a joke? And he looked at me puzzled and surprised. Seriously? I figured if I went and talked to that manager, I would get nowhere. So long Carlton Europe Vintage Adults Hotel, perhaps you are used to turning down the old folk and acting very nastily to people but just know that this was my first and last visit ever. You truly ruined my belief that Swiss hosts are welcoming which you are NOT!!

very pathetic and biased hotel staff, don't bother booking

location was good, right by the river, next to the station

Cons:

there was no air conditioning in the room and it was quite hot until after midnight
even the fan provided could not provide us enough ventilation in the room
the staff was biased towards europeans, and helped other guests with their luggage but didn't even offer to help us get our luggage to our room

Café da manhã completo, bem servido! Funcionários EXTREMAMENTE prestativos e educados, me senti como se estivesse sendo atendida por um brasileiro, um moço sorridente e bem humorado, me deu dicas de lugares nas redondezas. O quarto era ótimo, grande, e espaçoso, e a cama era uma nuvem de tão macia e fofinha. O banheiro era bom, apesar do box não fechar direito. A água do banho quentinha, não tenho do que reclamar. O hotel é antigo, muito bem localizado, com quartos grandes, e uma coisa que me chamou muita atenção foi a atenção aos detalhes. Por onde você vai no hotel, tem tipo uma exposição de objetos antigos, e para que eram utilizados. Os quadros e a história do hotel estão por toda parte. Eu me senti indo num museu, gostei muito dessa experiência e repetiria várias vezes por vários dias seguidos. MUITO BOM MESMO.
