Located a short 5 minute stroll to the Cathedral and main shopping streets. Breakfast was very good, good selection, freshly prepared.
The hotel section is immediately above a busy pub, which has live entertainment until 3am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and they kindly provide ear plugs in the room. We had room 8 which had possibly the most uncomfortable bed that I have ever slept in !!
Rooms were really spacious, staff really helpful and the brekkie was lovely 😍
The stairs with luggage is a problem if you are on long hauls. But only a minor problem
the bar below seemed a bit rough but once in the hotel section it was fine, the room large and well equipped, and the staff were welcoming and efficient. Breakfast good.
Carpet in room could use a clean. Steep and long stairs to reach the hotel section so not suitable for less-abled.
Breakfast excellent. Room comfortable and clean. Plenty of yeast and coffees etc and well equipped. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Downstairs decor was a bit off-putting. Very old pub style - all brown. Looked as if it would be sticky with beer but it was ok.
Characterful. Spacious bedroom and bathroom
Bar entrance a bit strange. It didn’t feel like a hotel.
A great hotel that is an absolute winner for convenience, right in the city centre and just a short walk from the station. The staff were very warm and friendly, welcoming me with a straightforward check-in process and a lovely complimentary arrival drink. My room was clean and comfortable and stocked with plenty of refreshments. I also really appreciated the fan during the heatwave! The earplugs provided for the weekend music are a thoughtful touch, and the cooked breakfast was delicious!
Although helping yourself to cereal, juice, etc. is generally the norm at breakfast, it would have been nice to have some upfront clarity from the staff on how it worked. Clearer guidance here would definitely improve the experience for future guests.
Great location. Very accommodating and helpful staff. Lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast outstanding
Location was good, room was clean and tidy, bar was welcoming
Nothing springs to mind
the staff were nice and tried hard to help.
I genuinely had zero idea this was a club with hotel rooms above. I stayed for half an hour late that night then left and booked somewhere else. The information on booking.com meant you had to scroll down and read through before you reached a warning about the club noise below from music until 0300. Same with the email. When I rang earlier in the day to check about parking, no-one told me. Clearly if I had realised the late noise until the small hours I would NEVER have booked it. The ear plugs on the pillow were a giveaway. It wasn't until I arrived and booked in and saw where I was and then went upstairs and went looking for reviews and read all my emails did I realise my mistake. They do make it clearer on the hotel website but I never looked there. I was working long hours and when I looked at it initially on booking.com and saw it was central with free parking with a reasonable looking room (albeit a slightly old fashioned bathroom) I thought it would be fine. I hoped it was suitable for my needs. I also wasn't happy that I paid £18 for parking because the one space that was free was teeny and very difficult to get a bigger car into. The nice guy on the desk did swap his car out so I could use his space but it was too late and I'd already had to pay. The hotel wouldn't refund me disputing that the noise issue was made clear. Interestingly the staff told me this happens a lot so I would argue I am not the first nor the last person to be caught out. I disagree but chalk it up to experience.
Fixtures and fittings all a bit tired. Noisey over night because needed to open windows(no air con). Good breakfast and parking.
Noisey.
Room was big and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice and the staff were very friendly.
Heard a bit of noise on the first night but that was expected due to the nature of the venue. They left some earplugs for us which was helpful.
Location and very clean and comfortable room
