Great location for a family gathering
Pros:

Bar downstairs great, comfy seats, good drinks food excellent. Beds comfy, good showers, extra tea and coffee etc at top of stairs so no need to bother anyone. Quiet after 11.15pm. plenty of cleaners first thing too

Cons:

Creaky floor boards if you get up during the night, and could do with new sealant but would be happy to stay again

Lovely pub with rooms
Pros:

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Cons:

Breakfast was disappointing and we had to wait far too long to be served. We got the impression they were understaffed. One waitress on duty for the whole restaurant and at the speed the food was coming out, maybe just one chef.

Pros:

It was very comfortable, lovely room with everything we needed

Cons:

One of the windows didn't quite fit properly so there was a draft. The weather was ok so we were fine but it would be chilly in the winter!!

A perfect, relaxing stay. I'd love to return if we are ever that far North again.
Pros:

The bathroom was my favourite bit! A large room with twin sinks, a large window, fantastic shower (so good I didn't want to get out)
The room was also lovely - again with a large window and a bed that was so comfortable that we overslept and nearly missed breakfast. The bed linen seemed brand new and every single thing was superclean.
We ate dinner in the comfortable but spacious bar and we were tempted by the tapas like bar snacks. We chose 6 plates and were amazed at the quantity of food. We underestimated the size of the portions so take this as a warning. I'm rather ashamed to say that we nearly finished the lot.
Breakfast is served in a different area and there is quite a good list of cooked breakfast dishes as well as porridge, yoghurt, toast, etc. We chose Eggs Benedict with bacon. Very nice.
From our arrival to our departure every member of staff was welcoming and friendly yet professional.
I am so sorry that we were only able to stay for one night. I'd have liked a long weekend at this beautiful and relaxed inn.

Cons:

There is nothing that I did not like.
