Close to a busy road....but you can't move a road!

The internet is very intermittent

There was nothing to dislike. It was perfect.

We loved everything and were made to feel most welcome. It was a last-minute booking but we were still accommodated for a super dinner. The breakfast was also wonderful, in a beautiful breakfast room.

The toilet was tricky to flush and for us a shower would have been easier. There was no shower curtain over the bath.

The inn is located right on the A429 road which is a very busy transport link and has large lorries travelling consistently throughout the day and night which results in disruptive loud noise making sleep difficult. The owners efforts to restrict this noise possibly hindered by the buildings listed status could be improved vastly to mitigate the issue. Generally although in overall good condition money needs to be spent to upgrade certain issues. Our particular Cheltenham bedroom although of large size and full of character suffered with very low beams and door frames which created a health hazard if you are over 5'9 and resulted in me hitting my head painfully several times . This is exacerpated by the lack of protective padding or warning signs. Facilities and layout in the room could be improved by for instance providing a different height table to house tea making facilities so you would not need to kneel down on the floor to make a cup of tea. A pointless desk positioned in front of a window again under a vey low beam is asking for trouble and not necessary, A large mirror hanging precariously on the wall behind the end of the bed is disconcerting and serves no purpose. Wooden venetian blinds fitted to windows were either poorly fitted or lacked any way of closing due to missing closing poles. Only 4 coat hangers in a large fitted wardrobe would hinder some on longer stays. All these issues are probably only in respect of this Deluxe king size room and other rooms may well be of a better design and not restricted by shape .Overall potential customers should be warned of the up and down nature of access corridors and stairs in the hotel which could make moving around difficult for elderly or infirm customers if occupying certain rooms.

The road noise

It was very noisy from the road resulting in two poor nights of sleep.
The shower didn't drain properly and the doors were in need of a little WD40.
The hot tap was also loose ...... the plumbing generally needed attention.
