Location
Shower was filthy with last tenants left over shower bottles and mold around bath
Breakfast coffee was cold.
Poached egg felt like it just came out of the fridge.
7am wake up from people outside the window in garden arguing. No staff in sight
Good breakfast, friendly staff, centre of town
Small room no air conditioning
Really central, welcoming and comfortable, also had character. Delicious and big breakfast :-)
There was nothing I didn’t like, it was perfect for our one night stay.
Very friendly staff,lovely atmosphere
Quaint Hertfordshire town, and the old bull central to it
Bed was lovely and comfortable.
Toilet was broken. Shower door too narrow, both of us unable to fit. Security door to the corridor leading to the rooms was propped open throughout the night. TV wasn’t working, no channels available. Staff didn’t know about car parking availability or what time breakfast was served.
Very comfy bed but room is very dated
We didn’t get in our room when we returned as the keys wouldn’t work and took over an hour to get in
Shower wasn’t great. Heard street noise and beer barrels being moved at 6.30 am Saturday morning and people sitting at the rear garden talking loudly at 6.00a.m.
Wonderful old building,
Lovely staff
The staff were friendly and the location was great.
The room was very dated, small and very hot.
The staff were friendly and helpful
We booked a room for 3 adults in The Old Bull Inn, our actual room was in a different building in a different street!
It was absolutely filthy dirty, badly maintained and inadequate for 3 adults, it felt like a sort of building I would not want to be in, not a pub or Hotel, it gave the impression of an abandoned university student accommodation. The hallway and stairs were filthy and stained thread bare broken carpets, the white handrails were filthy with dirty hand prints and dirt spills that had not been cleaned for months, thick cobwebs, some of which had been ripped out of the wall. The walls were all badly marked and filthy. The door lock to our room had obviously been forced at some stage and no longer locked properly. The doors did not shut in the bedroom or bathroom. The bed for the 3rd person was not made up, was an ancient bed settee with a disgusting mattress, filthy pillows, no covers for the quilt or pillows, bathroom sink was dirty, we had a half used soap dispenser that had a dirty plunger, the shower head was so clogged that the water came out like a tap not sprinkling, when we turned on the shower the lights flickered in the bathroom, one of the white towels was stained with brown marks. The bedroom drawer had hairs and crumbs in , the bedroom floor had clumps of dirt with hairs stuck to it, the headboard had a thick layer of dust on it. The hair dryer, kettle both did not have PAT test stickers on and the hairdryer had a screw and bolt in the drawer next to it possibly broken from the dryer ?
The kettle had thick lime scale in it and was half full of water which meant it had not been cleaned from the last guest, the plates in the cupboard still had food on them ! We were left a fairy washing up liquid bottle with a centimetre dept of liquid in it. The side tables had peeling off edging and very loose handles. The wardrobe doors overlapped and did not close.
The mats for the table were badly stained .
great location, comfortable, the staff were so helpful
everything was great
Friendly and helpful staff
Room was very tired. Bathroom needs upgrading.
Friendly & Hospitable.
Menu a little lacking in variety.
Breakfast and the staff were exceptional-10/10 for both. Bar area and outside seating were nice.
It could do with refurbishing as it looks a bit tired. Carpets were frayed and my room (10) had a tap that you couldn't turn off. Mattress very soft so not for everyone.
