Great location and superb views, staff extremely friendly and attentive
Beautiful views and location.
All good.
Decorated nicely with original features kept. Beer garden with views.
Understaffed at busy time.
Reception staff were really friendly and helpful. Tall waiter with beard was extremely helpful and made our dining on the second day great.
Breakfast was really good.
The two days were different. It did seem like staff on the first day were frustrated/stressed. My French fries with the burger were barely cooked, and the Pepsi I ordered was flat. I asked for an exchange after having a sip, and was given attitude.
Also on first day, it was extremely hot in the room. One fan wasn't sufficient enough.
If staying at the front, be aware people drink at tables below and it can become loud and boozy until 11:30.
This could be down to bank holiday rush?
The location
Limited parking and the room was a little bit noisy, although was described as such when booking
The location and free parking, Friendly, helpful staff . Good choice of food and breakfast menu .
Nothing
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful when checking in. The room was spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was lovely, the shower was brilliant, very comfortable and large bed, overall an excellent room and we’d happily stay again. We were at the front of the annex upstairs and stayed on a Tuesday evening, no noise, it was a very hot day, but there was a fan in the room and the windows opened really wide with them being Victorian sash windows and they had black out curtains, so we both had a good nights sleep.
Really short staffed in the restaurant which caused a delayed service, but very pleasant and friendly staff once being served.
The staff were exceptional. I didn't note everyone's name but in the restaurant, Michael was the epitome of professional courtesy and helpfulness, exhibiting pride in his work and a certain elan.
At breakfast, the woman who appeared to be in control - I think of eastern european extraction - was effective, efficient and welcoming, exhibiting a pride in her work and a clear desire for her colleagues to excel as well.
We were in annexe 33 and I thought that the connecting door to the hotel might allow for noise in the night. there were moments but nothing in the small hours.
The location is stunning perched on the cliff overlooking the bay. Drinks on the terrace were great.
Do not get a room at the front of the property as it will be over what is essentially an outdoor extension of the bar. Both nights we were disturbed by drinkers right below our bedroom. Not their fault just unfortunate placement.
Room is hot with no air conditioning so if you go when it’s warm, you’ll be uncomfortable. Especially when you can’t open the one little window due to noise below.
It was extremely disappointing to book a room at £200 a night for my partners birthday and we could only see the sea view if we stood up.
Everything apart from the above.
Excellent staff and facilities.

Lovely sized room in an amazing location
We ordered pate as a starter and they didnt bring the bread, we waited so long by the time they remembered it,we had eaten it without
Lovely traditional old hotel, beautifully modernized bathroom, plumbing etc
Such a small thing but some herbal tea choices in the room would have been welcome . Also we would have preferred a bigger bed.
Fabulous location - we love to visit a few times a year.
