Best hotel in Scotland we stayed in
Breakfast was awful. Eggs and sausage was well over cooked, bacon was presented with white fat still on it. Poor fruit available, peaches and a bowl of mixed salad. Not impressed having to get your own tea or coffee. In a 4 star hotel. Never had that before. Paying a lot of money to stay there and couldn't be bothered to get their customer tea or coffee served at the table.
When the hotel allocate you a room and that is what you expect then that is what you should get. We were put in an attic which was far to hot and a lot smaller than the superior double we paid for. Window could only open 10cm. Asked for fan and told they didn't have one. Asked for a refund and told no. Wanted to leave but couldn't. Made to stay. Spoke with different people about our situation. Nobody interested. Couldn't breath in this room far far to hot. I thought I could pass out. Got up at 4.30am and couldn't go back to sleep for the heat. Hotel didn't care. It was unbearable.
Lunch: Forgot to bring water to the table after asking when placed order. Waitress admitted this. Charged a service charge on our lunch order . Ordered two portions of chips. Time 4.50pm. Both bar people ignored me completely and filled two trays of drink for customer outside. At 5pm eventually got served. When I asked for my order she told me I was to late as it was 5pm she told me to come back at 5.30pm. I told her I had been there since 4.50pm and ignored. I got the chips eventually. We wanted to leave. As this was my husband's birthday and were attending the Landrover Experience the next day this was supposed to be a lovely experience for him. We spent £360 for this hotel. It was a disaster. I was so upset. Speaking with the management they didn't care. We should have had the first floor as allocated but got an attic room. I checked out this room on the second floor and it was indicated it was a classic double not a superior. I want to know why it was changed. It was allocated to us with no indication it may change. So why change us. We complained before 3 pm the check in time. Why not get a paying customer a fan when we had no option to stay there. We felt forced to stay which was horrible.
I will be writing a letter of complaint to the hotel and their head office. This is after speaking to them face to face.
The location. Is beautiful and peaceful. The hotel has amenities to suit most guests, and helpful staff.
Wonderful river walks into Dunkeld.
Great location. Took bikes snd cycled around the region. Food good
Preferred when staff brought tea snd coffee to table at breakfast
Beautiful surrounding. Nice room, well decorated and with a significant amount of space as well as large pieces of furniture for clothing and luggage.
The swimming pool and sauna is a real plus to relax after a long walk.
The restaurant is excellent though qui the expensive.
Main issue is probably the younger member of the staff not appropriately trained as waiters. They are polite but a bit too hasty and walking a lot with no real goals. As for the bar section, it was unclear if we had to go to the bar to get our drinks or if they would come and, most importantly, the tables were not cleared and cleaned. Maybe they were short of staff.
It won’t stop us for going back, but the experience was somewhat lower than one would expect from such a beautiful and peaceful hotel.
Glorious location
It's the little things. There was a fire exit near our room that the staff obviously use for access. This was slamming shut at 5 a.m. and woke us up a few times. We asked for glasses, but they were dirty. We waited for a good 5 minutes at the check-in desk for someone to attend. The clock didn't work in the room. No answer on the phone for room service. It's minor, but you're paying for a high-quality stay, and it's the small things that make it luxury.
The friendliness and positive support of staff made our stay a joy.
We had a little dog and breakfast in a little corner felt a little isolated.
Breakfast fantastic selection.
Everything about stay was fantastic.
We loved the location and spa facilities. Plus the food was great too.
Nothing it was all good. xx
Great location and lovely walk into the town
Tainted by the fact we left two items in the wardrobe but after phoning several times they are apparently not in lost properly . Shame because we had a fabulous stay otherwise
The setting and the bedroom were lovely
Hotel staff location 10 out of 10 and very clean and all the lovely added extras in the room we where made to feel so welcome
The only reason I marked down was because mattress was so uncomfortable had a horrendous night's sleep (or no sleep more like it)
Amazing location, staff all friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful setting, fantastic service
The week we were there it was super hot and there were no fans or AC but I appreciate that it was unusually hot for Scotland
