I couldn’t have a ground floor room….my fault,,,
Friendly staff made me feel so welcome. My room was exceptionally clean and the swimming pool water was so warm
Excellent service, comfortable room with beautiful decor. Superb breakfast and service. A delightful hotel with a traditional style. Parking and close to the beach and local facilities.
Nothing.
Fantastic breakfasts. Very comfortable bed and the room was great
Bit of a trek to the town
Pool
Dated in room
staff so lovely
location not brilliant
Dinner and the service was very good. Staff very good and the pool was a bonus.
My wife had to send breakfast back on both days. Spinach was gritty/sandy and she then requested just the poached egg. It was delivered by the head waiter with no apology from him for the initial problem!
My wife is gluten free which was accommodated with regard to toast. However on the 2nd day after being delivered some toast (GF), she then received her main of tomatoes on toast which was not GF but the order was taken by the same (head) waiter. It was returned but she did not receive the replacement toast until after we had all finished our breakfasts - nor an apology for the error. However, the same waiter did then return and passed on an apology from the chef for it taking so long. No apology from him yet again for the actual error in the first place - not impressed with him...
The hotel was excellent and the position was great for the town and Uphill. The food was excellent also and we ate in the restaurant both nights. Service was great, both for breakfast and evening meal...
the only downside was that they didn't have our wine both nights.
It is a regular place I stay at. Love the breakfast and the evening meals when I have nothing else on
Nice decor, good facilities, friendly staff.
Nothing
Clean, comfortable and excellent staff who made you feel welcome. Food at breakfast freshly prepared and of a good quality. Evening meal taken again excellent tasty food. Swimming pool good.
Road noise a little intrusive at times.
Small family-run hotel with swimming pool and free parking, everything we needed for a short stay with a toddler. It was hot but the fan in the room helped keep us cool overnight. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
Pool changing room floors were very wet, we had to change our toddler in the room
Beachlands is from an endangered species. An old repurposd building, family owned and trying to keep costs under control as everything gets more expensive.
The location is good, a few minutes walk from the beach and perhaps 20 minutes on foot from the centre. It's a quiet area and there is parking. Given the nature of the building, access is reasonable. The pool is it's ace in the pack, I'm not sure how far out of Weston you would have to go to find another hotel with one. It is not large but can absorb a couple of families without feeling crowded, and the water is quite warm too. Rooms are quite spacious and the decor is distinctive if a little nostalgia inducing. Our room could have taken a larger bed very easily. Unfortunately a standard double with a very soft mattress meant poor sleep. It was very hot and whilst there was a fan, it was incredibly weak. Another weak spot is the wifi which was dropping out regularly. The staff are generally helpful.
Cooked breakfasts are good and served at the table, though the fruit salad should be avoided. Evening meals were a very mixed bag, some not bad and some pretty poor. I was surprised, as many other reviewers have praised the food. The prawn cocktail I had one night was the worst I've ever had, and I grew up in their heyday, so I've had a fair few. Being told that they were not able to serve an ice cream desert before 10, because the chef had gone home, did raise a smile.
Drinks are fairly priced.
I can see the appeal of Beachlands but I would not return unless there were new beds, and eat out in the evening.
