The menu offered lots of variety, the food was a good standard but not amazing. The staff were all lovely and it was very quiet for sleeping (sometimes an issue when staying at a pub!). The room was clean, good bedding, great decor.
We had breakfast included which was good value. We also ate dinner and lunch there. The food was abit over priced and i think there is a 25% mark up for the location, for example, a very small portion of chips was £6.75, 2 drinks (1 pint of beer and a G&T was £19!).The room was a bit stuffy. Would not like to have stayed there in hotter weather we've had this year, it was only 23 degrees, we slept on top of the duvet and used the fan :)
It was right by the coastal path. It had a good vibe and was busy in a good way.
The bedroom was very warm, the window did not open much. There was limited space for suitcases & clothes.
Great location

Lovely cosy room, comfortable bed, very clean
I liked the location since we had a really nice walk but I didn’t like the beach ( which was my main reason to book this place).
I foolishly believed we could easily walk to the beach. When we arrived it proved to be more complicated than that. We had to go downhill through a not very easy to walk path. Also small beach full of pebbles. That was really disappointing. I guess it was my fault to getting the wrong impression from the picture I saw.
I didn’t like one of the girls working there. We had an issue with her and it wasn’t pleasant. The rest of the staff were sweet hearts.
Please keep in mind this is a pub so if you are an early bird like us, remember music will keep you up till midnight. Our room was right on top of the pub and I found it extremely noisy.
I didn’t like the food either.
The accommodation was very nice and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pub was really lovely with typical very low ceilings and great atmosphere - we were there during a heatwave and I can imagine during winter it would be so cosy. The food was really good although unfortunately the dish we really wanted to try was unavailable - so perhaps we will need to return. Lovely room and very comfortable bed - I would recommend staying here.
Location was nice.
Room was too hot and noisy. The food needs improving
I loved the inn, the location is perfect. The rooms are cute, clean and very comfortable. Staff a nice and plenty of them.
My downside was the room was boiling, yes was a heatwave but outside in the evening and morning was lovely and cool with the sea breeze but my room was still boiling which meant I didn’t sleep well. I had my dog with me and he slept in the bathroom to try and get cooler on the tile flooring. The window was on a security latch so didn’t open fully to let cooler air in during the evening.
Location, charming property and great staff.
It was very warm when we stayed but staff were helpful in opening windows.
Fabulous old inn in a stunning location, very quiet at night. The rooms are superb, very quaint, comfortable, nicely furnished and just great. The staff were brilliant. The breakfasts are fantastic.
The purpose of our visit was to explore the SW coast path, and the Smuggler's is very well located for a long walk to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove one way, and to Weymouth / Portland Bill the other way. There are also good bus services if you cant manage 26km there and back up and down steep cliffs.
I dont like Hall and Woodhouse restaurants, the food is essentially nothing more than ready-meals nicely laid out on a plate. They dont have proper chefs, just food assemblage, and it seems to me that someone in head office has told them to massively overcook everything. Beef croquettes actually looked more like lumps of coal, only less edible. Horrendous. We couldnt find a single dish that we liked in our three day stay, and had to find alternatives.
