Pros:

Great people and very helpful, they made me feel welcome; it’s a basic accommodation, ideal for short stays. Great location as well, 10-15 minutes walking distance away from the bus station that connects with the airport.

Needs some work
Pros:

Even though the hotel is a bit out of the way the location is charming and it didn't take too long to get into town.

Cons:

The lock on the shower needs to be fixed, this is a safety issue. I didn't like not being able to lock the shower door when I needed to, or struggling with the broken lock to get out of the shower if I did try to lock the door. There are a number of other minor things that could very easily be sorted out and fixed.

Pros:

The Stag Hotel was clean and although not really close to Edinburgh it was in a lovely location.

Cons:

The hotel really needs to do some maintenance. It is a 30 minute hub to fix the shower door so that it can lock. A small sign saying that the shower is occupied that is up high is not ok. I didn't feel safe in the shower and got locked in there twice. My door has the metal closing thing up the top falling off. Again, it is a couple of minutes just to take that off which would be better than letting it hang. Alternatively, it shouldn't take long to fix or replace. I used this hotel twice because of convenience and because I had booked it before I found out about the issues. If I had of known about the bathroom before, I wouldn't have stayed here.

Cons:

Everything. The property is run down. The room, situated at the top of a creaking stair, was dingy, cramped and ill equiped. There is hardly a 12" space between the left hand side of the bed and the wall. The right hand side was slightly better if you didn't mind getting scalded by the radiator. The furniture, such as it is, looked as if it had been retrieved from a skip. I felt as if I'd been transported into an episode of "Rising Damp" from the 70's. All this may have seem passable if we hadn't been charged £170 for it!

price goes with nice views but rooms are pretty much basics
Pros:

The view is good, looking at the Forth and Fith bridge in the morning is absolutely amazing

Cons:

Just basic toiletries (i.e. shampoos bottles), nothing more in the bathroom.

Relaxed & everyone was very friendly & helpful.
Pros:

The view from the room was excellent & the location suited our needs for visiting Dundas Castle

Cons:

The shower cubicle was a little small, but satisfactory for our stay.

Pros:

Friendly staff who carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs for me. The view from the room onto the Forth rail bridge was amazing. It was a chilly night and when I mentioned that the room was a bit cold, the manager switched on the heating, and it got nice and warm very quickly after that. Spacious room and the window in the bathroom was a bonus.

Cons:

No armchair to sit on, just a chair, so I ended up reading on the bed. The weather could have been nicer as the bridge was hardly visible through the fog! But nothing the hotel could do about it.

I would go back in a heartbeat!
Pros:

I loved the view out my window. When I first got there one of the pub guests were so welcoming. I just got there from the airport after a LONG flight. But all went smooth. Lots of stairs but I already expected those.

Cons:

The TV did not work. Not sure if it was the batteries or the TV itself. I did not say anything I am sure they would have fixed I just used my Ipad. Being solo I needed some sort of noise in the room. I was only there from 8pm till the next morning check out 11am. Wish I had one more day loved the town.
