One night stay at Chewton Glen
Pros:

The staff were very attentive, helpful and pleasant.

Cons:

A service charge was added to every service we had onto our bill .At point of check out the service charge wasn't explained as discretionary so it came as a great surprise with an already high bill that these additional charges were also added With egards to the use of the tennis courts we were charged to use this facility -as a guest and the expensive room rate we felt that this facility offered to the guest should have been free of charge and upon booking the court qwe were not told that there was charge to use this facility.Additionally, in January when my cousin stayed with her family there the tennis court was free of charge, We did manage to have this court fee removed and the service charges removed upon request however we did have to ask that these be removed which left us feeling disappointed with the overall experience .Felt too that the spa area was tired , overated as it certainly requires a renovation The changing room lockers were challenging to use and we e
nded up having to call the staff numerous times to unlock the locker.
Apart from the staff and the comfortable room felt the price for the experience including spa treatments were overrated and overpriced..

Luxury getaway, stunning location - deserves every one of it's 5 stars
Pros:

What can we say about Chewton Glen apart from 'outstanding'. This was a trip for our 15th wedding anniversary so we wanted something special and were not disappointed. The staff are amazing - from our very own treehouse concierge through to the spa and bar staff, it feels like nothing is too much trouble and certainly lived up to our expectations of a luxury experience. The treehouse was amazing - separate bed and living areas (thanks for the upgrade!), hot tub on the terrace and an out of this world bathroom only added to the experience. The breakfast hamper is also fantastic with some lovely treats. We ate at The Kitchen which was very good and quite reasonable considering the location. The massages were great as are the spa facilities on the whole. There are also lots of things to do here - grounds to explore, tennis, golf etc etc. Overall probably the best 5 star experience we have had and we are already planning our next stay!

Cons:

Nothing at all!

Great hotel for short family stays
Pros:

The hotel is great for families. The vast grounds and plenty of activities (tennis, cycling, golf, etc.) are amazing. The staff are super friendly and kind and children are welcome. The Beehive has been a particular favourite for our children and the staff who run it are fantastic. There are two swimming pools (an indoor and outdoor one) which have also been a highlight.

Cons:

The one thing that lets the place down is the food. While it's good and there are two restaurants, the menu which does not change means that it's difficult to stay more than a couple nights unless you are happy eating the same thing. The food and drink prices are also extortionate and it feels like you are being taken advantage of because there isn't anywhere nearby to go out and eat given the location of the hotel (in a not so nice seaside village). For example, we paid £172 for two (not so good) salads two basic kids lunch meals, a bottle of water and a couple juices. I appreciate hotel food is always expensive but this is excessive and really lets the hotel down.

A charming, traditional luxury hotel with excellent service, but it felt overpriced.
Pros:

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location, about a 20-minute walk from the beach. It has a classic, old-school English luxury feel rather than a modern minimalist style, which gives it a lot of charm. The staff were the highlight of our stay - exceptionally friendly and gave us some excellent recommendations. Breakfast was a real standout (especially the scrambled eggs, cooked breakfast, and great coffee), and we also loved the afternoon tea. Our Estate Room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and the welcome gifts for our daughter were a really thoughtful touch.

Cons:

For the price, it didn’t quite feel like the overall experience matched other luxury hotels we’ve stayed in. There isn’t a huge amount to do on-site unless you book paid activities, and many of these (along with dining and cocktails) felt quite expensive for what was offered. We were also a bit disappointed with the dining experience—several items (including seafood and some drinks like elderflower options) had run out, and we weren’t informed until after ordering, which was frustrating.
Facilities could also use some improvement: the outdoor pool felt a little tired, and indoor pool access for children is restricted to specific time slots, which limited flexibility and meant we didn’t use it as much as we would have liked.
