Charming hotel in a picturesque village
Pros:

The staff at Cairn Hotel couldn’t be better - they were all friendly and extremely helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and perfect for a night’s stay on the way north to do the NC500.

Cons:

It’s an old building, so it’s somewhat understandable, but the WiFi signal wasn’t the best - though the speeds were reasonable when you did get a good signal (30Mbit down which is better than a lot of hotels!).

Loved the place and will return, but felt it was a little expensive.
Pros:

The bar and food here were excellent. The breakfast was the best of our trip and the dinner was superb.

Cons:

The room was a bit cold and could have been warmer as the weather was poor during our stay.

Great spot for travellers
Pros:

The location and breakfast.

Cons:

The staff were overrun at the evening meal which led to delays and some frustration. Staff themselves were helpful and working hard.

Friendly small hotel with great food and drink
Pros:

The room was cosy and I was upgraded due to cancelations, all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, I had the best roasted red pepper soup and the breakfast was excellent with many options including a cooked breakfast including eggs, bacon, black pudding, tomato and mushrooms from local suppliers. The breakfast also came with a selection of tea, coffee and juice to chose from. They also have a large area for parking. The location is slightly inconvenient but well worth the detour.

Perfect stay in Cairngorms
Pros:

Value for money can't be beaten. Great location for exploring Caingorms. Brilliant welcome on check in and a surprise room upgrade. Building is a little old, so don't book expecting luxury. But had everything needed. Room was clean. Lovely little touches such as Tunnock wafers with the hot drink selection. The pub was perfect for a pint before heading to bed. And the morning staff for breakfast were friendly and efficient. The breakfast itself was knockout. The quality and provenance of the ingredients shone through. Nothing cheap. Proper bacon, sausages and black pudding from the local butchers. A real gem of a find. There is no need to look for any other alternative if in the area.

Cons:

Nothing. All great.

Disappointing
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Not enough staff on in the bar so queued for a while to be served. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7.30, hung around until 7.45 but breakfast rom still closed, very disappointing as I had to leave for a meeting
