Every thing was really good.

The hotel was very clean and close to Henley town centre.
The service was very slow and we were promised a shower when I returned from my run, I was told I could not.

Nothing not to like
We didn't realise there was a dress code for dinner, and as we were on a shopping weekend, hadn't brought the appropriate clothes for the restaurant, so had to eat out. However, we were welcomed at breakfast, which was excellent.
As we were walking the Thames Path, the location was ideal, right by the river. We had Full English Breakfasts (as fuel for a full day of walking) which were truly exceptional, in quality and quantity.
Few of us recently enjoyed a short break at Leander Club in Henley and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. It is an excellent place to unwind, recharge and simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
The rooms were lovely, comfortable and well presented, and all the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and welcoming. A particular mention must go to the breakfast team, who were warm, friendly and genuinely personal in their interactions. Their attentiveness and welcoming manner made breakfast a particularly pleasant part of our stay.
The location is another real highlight. Parking was easy and convenient, and the club is within comfortable walking distance of the main shopping area and a good selection of restaurants. Most importantly, being right by the River Thames gives the whole place a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere and makes it a special setting for a relaxing break.
Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily return. We found that the Club combines excellent service, comfortable accommodation, a great location and the unique benefit of being so close to the river. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and refreshing break in Henley.

Waited a long time at reception to check in.
The garden bar closed up at 9.45pm whilst we were mid-drinks (on a Friday!)… no bar inside the hotel, everything else was closed!
No room service. and then we had to call someone to arrange a bottle of wine for the room. (At a huge cost).
No emergency call out for vulnerable residents.
The cups in the room left a strange oily residue on our coffee.
There was a huge infestation of flies in the bathroom.
They did not have veggie sausages or cater for vegetarians. When I enquired about a reduced rate they blankly said no.
Despite paying for breakfast, we ate elsewhere.
We had arrived from a long haul Heathrow flight from Korea.

The location for its unparalleled views of the west bank of Henley on Thames.
We had the Cambridge room and though small it was nicely appointed. The staff were very accommodating and charming.
I doubt if another hotel in England can better these aspects. This Edwardian architecture offers excellent large public rooms and a large bar that sports excellent real beer from a local brewery which shows up all those fizzy ice cold largers to shame insofar as it has flavour.
The cooking. If ever an hotel is crying out for a good chef it has to be The Leander Club. And what a disappointment our rib eye steaks were: overcooked, drowned in a disagreeable sauce and buried under a tired salad treated to a heavy balsamic dressing. We had not eaten at all since a porridge breakfast and this brought on a real sense of disappointment. But I am sad to say that it did not stop there! Breakfast: tea was served immediately after giving our order but I had to go in search of milk!
Toast arrived of the "Wonderloaf " variety and this with rock hard butter which of course ripped the toasted veneer off the weak toast destroying it as i tried to spread the butter. Now came my 2x fried eggs and leather like bacon rashers with a hint of fish about it. Bacon & eggs are the perfect breakfast if one can apply some pepper but that was missing.
So now you see why a new chef should be a priority here.
Breakfast is charged at £15 and if the management is finding it difficult to make profit on this meal then increase the price don't cut the quality as ones abiding memory of an excellent hotel as many guests would have taken dinner in the town:something we noticed, in hindsight, we were the sole diners for dinner.
