I loved everything, it was comfortable, very nicely decorated, had amazing staff, lovely cocktail bar, showers were amazing
Would have been nice to have parking available but there was a private one near by so not a big deal
Location was solid
Bed sheets in the room where ripped with holes and stained also , went ahead and said it to manager and they changed them and the new ones still had stains and holes. We got dinner in hotel and I waited 10 mins extra from when my girlfriends food came out and it was thrown together
The location, the staff, easy check in and check out, the view from the restaurant.
Priced too high, toilet papers
There were definitely some positives to the stay. The room itself was beautiful, modern and very well presented. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was lovely, and the complimentary snacks and drinks were a nice touch. The food at Sophie’s was also excellent, particularly the desserts, and sitting out on the terrace made for a lovely setting.
The girls working in the lobby bar were another highlight. They were friendly, attentive and genuinely pleasant, and their service was easily the best we experienced during our stay.
Unfortunately, there were several issues that really took away from the overall experience. When we first entered Room 419, there was a very strong smell of paint which lingered throughout our stay. We initially assumed it would clear with the air conditioning, so we decided not to make an issue of it, but it remained noticeable.
The biggest problem, however, was the noise. The room was directly opposite the train station and the soundproofing was extremely poor. The trains were unbelievably loud and it genuinely felt as though we were sleeping with the windows open beside the tracks. We knew the hotel was located beside the station when we booked, but we had no idea the noise would be this severe. If certain rooms are known to be particularly affected, guests should be made aware of this, especially when those rooms are being offered as an “upgrade.”
The service at Sophie’s was also disappointing. Although the food itself was excellent, our cocktail order was delayed for most of the meal without anyone telling us there was an issue. We only found out when we were nearly finished our main course that the bar was missing an ingredient. The cocktail eventually arrived when I was already halfway through dessert, with no apology or acknowledgement of the delay.
We were also woken at around 8am by housekeeping in the room next door. Due to the poor soundproofing, we could clearly hear the hoovering, staff talking and people walking around. After already struggling to sleep because of the trains, being woken so early by hotel staff was particularly frustrating.
Overall, The room was beautiful and the food was genuinely excellent, but unfortunately those positives were outweighed by the noise, poor soundproofing, lack of communication and disappointing service. For a hotel offering an “upgraded room,” we expected a much higher standard and, most importantly, to actually be able to sleep comfortably.
Everything
NA
great look and feel to the hotel, really like the building just our type. However the restaurant did not meet my expectations. so many details missing. although wait staff pleasant and helpful but food was not to standard. breakfast was fine!
reception staff unwelcoming this is not expected in Ireland. no smile, no engagement as though we were not good enough to be there. I expected the right people to be placed on the front desk.
Loved how close it was to train station
Everything. Second time staying here. Great location for the city centre
Nothing
First the hotel is nice and modern, the bar is on the first floor and on weekends and holidays it is very lively and a younger crowd. The rooms are nice, but they are small. We were doing a 10 day drive around Ireland so we had some bags and there is no place to store them and there is little room between the bed and wall. Be warned and there are several notices in the room, the snacks and alcohol in the room are NOT free. Lastly, parking; there is no hotel parking, we parked in the train station parking lot next door.
Dined at Sophies. Staff so friendly and welcoming
Late check in and early check out
Nice coffee
The car park staff rude when I asked where I parked it was torrential rain had to park in train station and carry bags down stairs no ideal
