Close to town centre and showed all the sports

Perfect location base. Two minutes walk into York centre. 15 mins walk from Train station. Comfy double bed although room we stopped in was quite small. Shower was powerful. Fan was a great welcome relief. Lovely staff and great pub, but no beer garden. Although they do not serve any food apart from breakfast from 8am - 9.30am for residents only.
Stairs were steep. Breakfast was mediocre. Had to ask for loo roll twice as one roll was not enough for a three night stay. Rooms were very warm due to weather, still had winter bedding on.and had to prop the sash window open with a hairspray can.
We really enjoyed our stay there staff where very welcome. The room was comfortable and clean would stay again. Thank you so much.

Had a very comfortable room (St Mary's Abbey) top of two flights of stairs - not good if you have mobility issues. Room very clean.The bed was comfortable and well furnished. Tea Coffee and BIscuits provided. Good shower and lots of towels. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff.

If you have mobility issues avoid top floor room, two flights of steep stairs.
I was only staying for one night, as I was going to the theatre, so the hotel was in a great location. All the staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful, the room/bathroom were clean and the bed was really comfy. There was a good choice of menu at breakfast. I loved the themed rooms and would stay here again.

Habitación pequeña, daba a un patio interno sucio. El desayuno se sirve de 9 a 9.30 así que uno de los dos días no lo pude tomar porque mí tren salía a las 8.30.

Located close to so many sights and bars and restaurants! We were not wanting for things to do and see! The room was clean, the staff was kind and welcoming and the tavern was a fun place to wind down in the evening as well as start the day!

If I’m honest, in my opinion the The Bootham Tavern is the best pub in York by a country mile.
I recently asked Nicola, the landlady, if a bunch of my pals from Doncaster could use the pub as a base for a big weekend, and both Nicola and every single member of staff could not do enough for us — even though we are a lively and rowdy bunch at times!
If you like a proper pub atmosphere, this place has everything: racing, football, rugby, poker, live music and a brilliant crowd. But the best thing about the Bootham Tavern by far is the people who work there. Nicola and the team genuinely go above and beyond for customers, and I honestly don’t know how they manage to keep such a high standard all the time. Even the door staff are friendly, welcoming and a pleasure to deal with.
I genuinely can’t speak highly enough of this place or the business they’ve built. The Bootham Tavern is top class from top to bottom.
