Kandy Dendrobium House

This place is paradise... its in the middle of beautiful the Hanthana hills with luscious trees and birds. We were a bit unlucky with the weather and it rained the whole time we were there but it meant we could unwind, enjoy the food and get some really stunning pictures of the mist. On the other hand we were really lucky because we had the whole place to ourselves, the staff were incredible, the attention to detail is amazing. Our tours were informative and really enjoyable - we couldn't recommended this place enough.

Lastly, the food amazing and cookee to your specifications. The chef came out and asked us how things were and what we would like for the next meal.

A lovely property suitably off the beaten path in a serene setting for an immensely relaxing stay. Our stay was enhanced by a superb team led by Chamara, special thanks to Dharmasiri who was attentive and thoughtful at all times and he was quick to understand our preferences. Our guide Pasindu is ball of energy and enthusiasm on everything to do with wildlife and flora and fauna of the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka. His knowledge and flair for communication belies his young age! The resident chef is a master crafter and we loved every meal.

The building, furniture, fittings and pretty much everything in the property are luxurious. The beautiful properly is truly enhanced by the whole team and it was the most blissful stay.

Nous avons été incroyablement charmés par les lieux. Un endroit isolé, avec une vue fantastique, une décoration soignée et réfléchie pour chaque pièce, et un confort chaleureux dans ces montagnes sri-lankaises à la météo parfois capricieuse. Des activités sont proposées, notamment une observation d’oiseaux avec un naturaliste, que nous avons adorée! Enfin, la piscine est simplement splendide (un spa arrivera prochainement).
Le personnel se démenait pour nous faire plaisir et le manager a été parfaitement adéquat.
On s’y sent privilégiés!

Dendrobium House was the absolute highlight of my five-week stay in Sri Lanka — and sadly, two nights there felt far too short.

My heartfelt thanks go to Manager Sharm, Dharmasri, Dilshard, Chef Ravinda, Sandeepa, and the entire team. Their exceptional attention to detail made my stay truly unforgettable. Every need was anticipated, and they created such a calm, relaxing atmosphere throughout.

The pool setting is simply perfect — an idyllic place to unwind while taking in the magnificent views.

Chef Ravinda’s food was outstanding: authentic, fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented.

I genuinely felt completely and wonderfully spoiled.

First of all I would like to thank Mr. Sham, his attitude and help in every situation is beyond the needs. We spent 5 magnifique days at the property and traveling around, it was the most beautiful place we have visited in Sri Lanka.
Pictures don’t show the real atmosphere and beauty of this home. So one advice - don’t go there for only 1 or two days!
What I like the most comparing to other boutique hotels is that they know when you need something and when you don’t so you don’t feel trapped.
The “red” room is worth the extra.
And the food - just wow!

Et fantastisk hus beliggende midt i naturen omgivet af bjerge, dyr og en kaffeplantage. Der var helt stille og masser mulighed for bare at ånde ud og nyde. Maden der blev serveret var udsøgt med en kok der hver morgen kom ud og diskuterede dagens menu. Derudover var selve huset ufatteligt flot indrettet og personalet var imødekommende og smilende og ingen problemer var for små/store til at kunne blive løst. Man følte sig meget velkommen.

Sehr schönes Anwesen mit dazugehörender Farm (Kaffee, Vanille) welche auch mit einer spannenden Führung besucht werden kann.

Мы были очарованы уединенной атмосферой сдержанной роскоши - идеальное место для релакса в горах. Обслуживание ненавязчивое и по-настоящему заботливое. Особая благодарность шеф-повару за фантастические завтраки и ужины — каждый прием пищи вызывал эстетическое удовольствие. Трансфер из центра Канди, с отличным водителем на крузере, занимает порядка 40 минут. Зато оказываешься в уединенной тишине поместья в сосновом лесу. Если менеджмент сможет добавить такую мелочь, как фрукты в номер и тапочки, будет честная десятка с плюсом. Если еще вернемся на остров, то обязательно остановимся здесь снова.

Beautiful property with wonderful staff and best food we had on the island. Loved the excursions and hikes on offer. Special mention to the organic farm they have, we enjoyed a tour and all our meals sourced ingredients from right on site.

Location was close enough to Kandy for sightseeing but much nicer to be away from the city and surrounding by nature and the mountain view. Especially from the spa pool!! Highly recommend

Everything is perfect!!

The beauty of the house exceeded all our expectations! Every single detail is well thought out and perfectly placed. It feels like you never want to leave—you just want to stay forever. The staff is incredibly professional, and the breakfast is outstanding, on par with five-star hotels in Paris.

The only thing I’m sad about is that we had only two days there. But we already know—we’re coming back next year!

Great stay here, spacious room with a great balcony. For dinner they served a 3 course meal, well executed.

Location is awesome, the view from the pool over the hills and valleys is wild and it wasn't far to Kandy City which I found a bit hectic, so it was nice to escape back to the more natural setting at the hotel.

They had a naturalist here, who took us on a morning walk through the pekoe trail and imparted so much knowledge of the local plant & wildlife.

Will definitely stay here again and will recommend to my friends travelling through Sri Lanka.

Dendrobium House is the perfect place to stay in Hanthana. The room and amenities were exceptional. All meals were excellent and incredibly varied. The hotel team was always friendly, patient and helpful. Especially enjoyed the Nature walk!

The place was really mesmerising. And even better was the service, it was what I'd like to exceptional. Great attention to detail. Superb variety in terms of dining as well and the food was great. Will definitely go again! Lastly, the paintings and how the bungalow blended with nature was brilliant in terms of design and aesthetic.
