Exceptional service and seene mountain views
Pros:

Cat Ba Xanh Hotel exceeded all our expectations. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area against towering limestone cliffs, providing a calm environment away from town noise. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with AC and a mini-fridge. The owner is incredibly helpful and arranged our motorbike hire and bus to Hanoi effortlessly. We also loved the Lan Ha Bay boat trip he booked for us—it was personal, scenic, and well priced. Breakfast was fresh, hot, and tasty every morning. We would recommend this property to anyone traveling to Cat Ba! The road leading to the property has a gentle slope, which is easy to navigate by scooter, but good to know if walking with heavy backpacks

Incredible island hospitality — clean, cozy, and wonderfully tranquil
Pros:

Cat Ba Xanh was a true highlight of our trip. The property is clean, green, and quiet, offering a peaceful sanctuary after days of trekking and boat tours. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower had great hot water pressure. The host family is so warm and welcoming. They gave us brilliant tips on exploring Cat Ba National Park, rented us a reliable scooter, and booked our bus to Ninh Binh with zero markup. Breakfast on the terrace was fresh, fast, and delicious. You cannot beat the value and service here! It takes about 5 minutes by bike to reach the central beaches, but we preferred staying in this quiet green area rather than in the noisy town center.

An absolute gem!
Pros:

Staying at Cat Ba Xanh was one of the best parts of our Vietnam trip. The views of the karst mountains from the property are breathtaking, especially in the early morning mist. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a wonderful balcony to sit and unwind. The host gave us great recommendations for exploring the island and arranged an incredible boat tour through Lan Ha bay with kayaking and swimming. The scooter rental on-site was super convenient and inexpensive. We loved the relaxed, family atmosphere and the delicious breakfast crepes. There are limited restaurants within immediate walking distance, but the hotel can cook dinner on request or town is just a quick 5-minute cooter ride away.

Comfortable, quiet, and authentically welcoming — outstanding island base
Pros:

Cat Ba Xanh Spring offers everything you need for an enjoyable stay on Cat Ba Island. The property is peaceful, set against limestone cliffs, and very well maintained. Our room was spotless, with clean tiles, a strong hot shower, and powerful air conditioning. The family running the homestay is incredibly kind and accommodating. They stored our bags after checkout, let us shower after our hike, and arranged our bus to Tam Coc with door-to-door pickup. The breakfast was fresh, generous, and served with a smile. It felt like a genuine home away from home village roosters occasionally crow in the early morning, which is normal for rural Vietnam, but light sleepers might want to keep the windows closed.

Es war für mich einfach viel zu laut da draußen mitten in der Bierstraße und ich konnte mir das auch nicht vorstellen was für ein kraches da ist ist mir was für sehr sehr junge Leute

Also mehr wie zwei Tage hält man da nicht aus ansonsten war die Lage sehr zentral

The recepcionist was wonderful! She had a very good english, she explained us all that we could visit in Cat Ba and arranged us a bus to come back to Hanoi. The breakfast is small buffet, the room is good and it has a nice rooftop! Its not in the center of the town but you arrive in 10 min walking
