Location and setting
Bit old fashioned and expensive
The room was tired and had a broken window, the gardens are an amazing asset. The breakfast included a small breakfast, not full English breakfast. We felt we paid a lot for the room and expected high quality, but it was fairly average.
What we received for the price
Surrounding area, beautiful garden walk.
Excellent relaxing facilities, spa and pool.
Big eaters, can be worth the breakfast, over sized potions.
Vintage decor.
Locked outside.
Struggling with sleep issues I can be up all times of the night and can be heavy smoker go outside a few times through the night.
Doors locked at 11 and you are required to ring a number. From half midnight, took over 45 minutes and 7 calls and a voice mail left to the number left on the door before I gained access back in to the building
Everything, will definitely come again
Nothing, everything superb .
Location
I felt it was very tired Stayed there a few times before and it was excellent 10 years ago The spa / changing rooms & pool area wasn’t clean. Grey towels Didn’t use the facilities for lack of cleanliness
The swimming pool and sauna was lovely. Good temperature of the pool water.
The hotel offered a continental breakfast, while hot food was cooked to order. Guests could choose only one cooked option from the following: either a sausage or bacon barm, porridge, a three-egg omelette, or bacon and egg. Considering breakfast was advertised as included at a cost of over £15, the additional £5 supplement for a cooked breakfast felt excessive, especially given the limited portions and choice.
Unfortunately, the breakfast experience was disappointing overall. Breakfast times had to be booked in advance, which made the stay feel less relaxing as it required setting an alarm to avoid missing the allocated slot.
We stayed in Room 3, which was quite noisy in the morning, making it difficult to have a lie-in. We were also allocated a disabled-access room; while the bathroom was spacious, this was primarily due to the accessibility layout, and the mirror stand was unstable and repeatedly came apart.
I did not use any spa treatments, so I cannot comment on those facilities. I booked the hotel to attend a friend’s party, but based on my experience, I would not recommend it for a relaxing break, mainly due to the restrictive breakfast arrangements and overall experience.
