Staff were very helpful friendly and informative. Hubby is coeliac and they were exceptional with this
The pub ran out of food on the 2nd night almost everything including pizzas!!!!
Nothing
Room was terrible, very hot and could hear people above having sex, carpet coming away from floor, bathroom door frame was mould and breaking, fan was full of dust, code for breakfast was instant coffee,
The location of the hotel close to York was excellent for what we needed. Breakfast was first class. Cooked fresh and plenty to eat
Room was a bit hot and would have preferred an earlier breakfast but these are minor points.
Very beautiful and well maintained hotel and gardens. Very lovely and cozy lounge areas. Tasty breakfast. Reception and breakfast hall team were all very kind and friendly. Separate shout out to the Fatt Abott and the team- excellent food and I will remember the crème brûlée for a long time. Very nice spa area. Also we had a lovely greeting for us as it was our honeymoon getaway and team congratulated us :) If we ever travel York way again, we will be returning.
While I found spa to be lovely, I didn’t like that slippers were not allowed in the pool area- while I understand it’s H&S reason for slip and trip hazard prevention, I didn’t feel comfortable being barefoot in public space. Another thing - a gap under the door was letting the light into the room at night and there were instances I woke up from how bright it was when turned facing the door, had to keep shoes in front of the door blocking the light.
Everything! The spa facilities were fantastic the room comfy and the whole hotel and grounds were just beautiful Great to be right next to a bus stop into York as well Could I just say the staff (all of you!) were just so helpful nice and kind The hotel is perfect ,including the squirrels in the gardens!
Maybe a little fridge in the room but honestly that's nit picking
Nothing, it was terrible.
I didn’t like that the hotel staff rummaged through my belongings to take my things because I have a prescription for Cannabis for my Chrons disease and I think they thought it was illegal although it isn’t with a medical card and prescription in the U.K. since 2018. The room was incredibly warm and up two flights of stairs at the top of the building which was difficult for someone with a disability even with the lift. Scrambled eggs had shells in, there was no milk at breakfast, the staff were very slow and didn’t know what they were doing, the tomato’s were cooked but only the top side with leaves still on?? Overall a terrible stay.
Superb spa and good breakfast
Fat Abbot, Wetherspoons food at Ivy prices.
Beautiful gardens, welcoming receptionist, lovely room and relaxing spa.
Breakfast. Had to ask for several things to be replenished and we had come down well within the breakfast slot. We felt a bit like an inconvenience.
All meals were excellent good quality. Plenty to choose from.
Would have preferred a down stairs room, carrying a suitcase and travel bag up stairs at 82 yrs old not good. Will ask for downstairs bedroom next time.
This is a lovely charming hotel a mix of old and newer things . Lovely grassed area outside to sit in the afternoon or evenings and read. There is a large conservatory with very comfy seats. Also a lounge and a bar area.
Breakfast was very nice with everything I needed. The staff were really lovely and gave me some good suggestions of places to go. The bus stop is only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and takes you into York City centre... no worries about traffic or parking....which is very expensive there.
The conservatory was very hot in the evenings so a way of cooling it a little would make it an even better place to sit and read etcit wasnt a major problem though
Characterful with plenty of outside space to enjoy the sun. Multiple seating areas inside and out to relax. Large breakfast room with good choice of hot and cold foods. Friendly staff.
Tiny issue. Our room was above reception- could hear conversations between staff and others guests.
We’d visited previously and looked forward to going back and using the facilities, it’s a short bus journey into York.
The fan in the toilet was very noisy and there were no grab handles to get out the bath after having a shower. We were in the annex to the rear of the property.
The place is amazing, friendly welcoming staff.Clean & comfortable.Food is delicious.
Great sized room, lots of parking , local buses run into York from outside hotel . Spa facilities are nice . Hotel isnt the most modern but that adds to the appeal
