Una gradita sorpresa nel cuore della campagna inglese

La locanda si trova fuori dal tempo e dallo spazio, nel cuore della splendida campagna inglese. E' un'oasi di tranquillità, ma è dotato di tutti i confort e curato nei minimi particolari. La colazione offre piatti molto golosi, con ingredienti di prima qualità, e anche le due cene che abbiamo fatto al ristorante sono state davvero ottime: sia la carne che il pesce erano freschissimi e preparati alla perfezione: complimenti allo chef!
Il motivo per cui avevo scelto questo posto è la vicinanza ad Highclare Castle, che avevo in programma di visitare, ma il Crown and Garter si è rivelato una piacevolissima sorpresa

Cons:

Se proprio devo trovare un aspetto da migliorare, direi che il personale del ristorante non è all'altezza dello standard del locale: una tazza di tè portata senza il piattino, prenotazioni perse, troppa fretta nello sparecchiare (prima che il cliente abbia terminato il pasto), ordinazioni dimenticate, scarse capacità di accoglienza e comunicazione che vanno a discapito della gentilezza e soprattutto sono lontani dall'alto livello della cucina.

Would definitely stay here again. A lovely peaceful village location

A lovely old inn. The staff were very friendly and obliging. The rooms were lovely with lots of character and really comfy beds!

Cons:

The booking hadn't gone through correctly from Booking.com so the beds in one room had to be altered into a twin. The staff were very obliging and changed them straight away

Pros:

The hotel was great for an English country experience. It has a beautiful garden and the place is very relaxing. They have a restaurant, bar and coffee shop all on the premises. The breakfast was delicious and the people working there were very friendly.

Cons:

Just a few warnings for my fellow American travelers. There are no air conditioning units and no fans in the room. If you go in the summer and there's a heat wave, the room may be warm including at night. It's also accessible by narrow country roads that Americans may not be used to. Be patient as there are often tractors on the roads.
