Beautiful rooms, lovely rural location. Great little outside courtyard area and plenty of parking.

The staff were really friendly and the evening meal we had there was great. The breakfast was also pretty smashing too. We would definitely return.

The hotel was great for an English country experience. It has a beautiful garden and the place is very relaxing. They have a restaurant, bar and coffee shop all on the premises. The breakfast was delicious and the people working there were very friendly.
Just a few warnings for my fellow American travelers. There are no air conditioning units and no fans in the room. If you go in the summer and there's a heat wave, the room may be warm including at night. It's also accessible by narrow country roads that Americans may not be used to. Be patient as there are often tractors on the roads.

We had a fantastic stay at The Crown & Garter in Inkpen. The staff were a real highlight, with Alex and Rebecca being particularly exceptional warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay.
The pub has a lovely character, with a beautifully designed interior and a fantastic garden that makes it a great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Our room was very well appointed, comfortable and thoughtfully presented. And for us as vegetarians, the breakfast was a real treat — the vegetarian breakfast was absolutely fabulous, with plenty of choice and beautifully prepared.
Overall, a wonderful country pub with great atmosphere, excellent food and, above all, outstanding staff. We would happily return and thoroughly recommend it.
The only thing ! More vegetarian options for dinner and Sunday lunch !!! Goats cheese plopped on a beautiful roast lunch is not very creative in 2026

Very clean, comfortable room adjacent to the pub. We ate dinner there and the food was very good. Staff were welcoming. Perfect location for visiting Highclere Castle.
