Chough's Nest Hotel

Gerund door familie met twee dochters, fantastische locatie op een klif. Erg goed ontbijt, privé parkeren.

Prachtige locatie en een prachtig hotel. Het is een oud Victoriaans huis en ook nog als zodanig ingericht. Wij hadsen een kamer met zeezicht met praxhtig uitzicht op de baai. Beneden in het hotel een hele mooie ontbijtkamer en salon.
Ontbijt in de ochtend heerlijk, luxe verwend met mooi gedekte tafels en bediening maar wel heel relaxed. En ook met mooi uitzicht.
Het dorpje zelf is klein maar wel voldoende restaurantjes en zo, samen met het dorpje Lynton beneden aan de baai. Het meer dan honderd jaar oude "treintje" dat op en neer ging erg leuk met interessante werktuigbouwkundige installatie. Hebben we veel gebruik van gemaakt, want het was daar heel erg steil.

The breakfast was wonderful, very tasty and freshly cooked. Also the freshly baked cakes and scones were amazing and a lovely extra touch. Kate is a wonderful baker.

Tolle Lage mit fantastischer Aussicht, süßes Gebäude mit netten Zimmern und sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr gutes Frühstück.

Breakfast and dinner was great. Best part was location of the hotel and size of the hotel. Great staff.

It was the perfect stay. The location and views are stunning, the owners couldn’t be more professional and lovely. The cleanliness of the rooms, the most charmingly decorated house, and the wonderful breakfast catering for everyone makes this hotel an absolute marvel.

The family who run the choughs nest hotel are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and the added extra of home made cookies and muffins to keep you going during the day.

The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic and they catered exceptionally well for guests who were gluten free. Sea views were spectacular and rooms very comfortable.

The breakfast was well cooked, piping hot, and delicious.

Heb en het uitzicht

I've lost count of the number of times my husband and I have stayed here now. We usually stay at least once a year, sometimes more often, as a little treat.
It's the perfect base to explore Lynmouth and Lynton and the surrounding area. It's very clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. Every room has a fantastic view of the sea. No doubt we'll be back soon.

Lovely hotel overlooking the sea. I had one of the photos from our window featured on BBC West weather whilst staying there.
The cleanliness and housekeeping was second to none..immaculate. The quality of the bedding was gorgeous..highest quality and felt as if you were sleeping on silk. We found the bed more comfortable than our own bed and would of liked to of taken it home !
The bathroom was very good apart from a couple of points:The mirror is not heated so after a bath as it gets very steamed up..there are other mirrors in the room, but that's not the point..if it's in the bathroom it should be fit for purpose. Also the vent was full of dust (important as no window)and the door was hard to close without banging.
One thing we did have a problem with was that the curtains did not have blackout linings and it was extremely light very early in the morning..whilst this may not bother everyone, it is often listed in hotel facility room lists as a given. Also a couple of complimentary bottled waters in the fridge would be nice.
The breakfast was very well cooked, presented and served with good choice available. Special requests can be pre ordered if not on the menu.
Dinner can be booked in advance on certain days with two main options (at time of review) plus lighter bites available. We didn't eat dinner but it smelt delicious when we passed the dining room and wished that we had !
There is a sitting room which , although looking a bit dated would be comfortable in the colder months with the open fire lit.
We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and watching the bird feeders there ..we saw the woodpecker too. The views are outstanding.
We used the famous cliff railway several times as after trying to walk the zig zag path found it too hard. Beware that it is quite costly but should be done at least once.
We walked the valley of the rocks and Watersmeet. Wonderful!Take plenty of cash for parking as phone reception is intermittent and if you cannot connect phone you have no way to pay.
All in all a lovely place to stay and we thoroughly recommend.
