We visited Veghel to attend a wedding anniversary and were looking for a hotel to spend the night in after the celebrations. The Yard Hotel was an obvious choice for us, as it was within walking distance of the venue. Although the price per night made us hesitate (we needed three rooms for six people), we decided to book anyway because there is only a limited choice of hotels in a place like Veghel. The overall ambience of the hotel is perfectly fine. As one person had limited mobility, we asked to be given at least one room close to a lift or on the ground floor. And this was arranged very well. The ‘cosy’ rooms we’d booked really do feel ‘cosy’ – they aren’t spacious but are neatly equipped (as per the website), although there isn’t a place to sit together. You have to use the bed for that. Attractive bar and restaurant area. This is also where we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Not a huge selection, but good quality. All in all, a good choice for the specific reason we’d travelled to Veghel.
Without mentioning specific prices, we do find ourselves wondering more and more often what constitutes a reasonable price for a night’s stay including breakfast. Do some shiny wallpaper and mood lighting in the room really justify charging a few per cent more per night? At the end of the day, the room remains what it is: small. The same goes for breakfast: what are a cup of coffee, a glass of orange juice, a bowl of yoghurt and two slices of bread worth these days? Although our stay was pleasant, this still lingers in the back of our minds. And believe us: we travel a lot and have plenty to compare it with.

Ook het personeel was echt super vriendelijk en wilde zeker meedenken! Maar gaven ook aan dat de tv al tijden een probleem was, maar dat de baas hier niks mee deed…
Het was jammer dat het restaurant op zondag gesloten was en daarmee ook de binnentuin. Ook eigenlijk mede daarom geboekt…
En ondanks dat op de site stond dat je streamingdiensten kon gebruiken op de tv was dit niet mogelijk. Heel irritant dat de tv überhaupt erg slecht reageerde en het geluid amper te horen was!
Dan hoort het zeker niet meer op het faciliteiten lijstje te staan, want mede daarom had ik dit hotel geboekt. Het ontbijt was ok, maar ook vrij minimaal voor de prijs. Al met al, volgende keer toch maar weer vd valk.

Alles is top daar! De vriendelijkheid van de medewerkers, de kamer... alles!
Er was bij aankomst geen afstandsbediening van de tv aanwezig en koffieapparaat werkte niet, maar dit werd meteen opgelost. Afstandsbediening lag klaar toen we terugkwamen op de kamer en voor de koffie konden we afhalen bij de bar....
Niets!
In onze kamer stond geen minibar/koelkast. Dat vond ik erg jammer. Verder was het restaurant gesloten op zondag. Het zou wel handig zijn als je wel een eenvoudig broodje met wat drinken als lunch kan bestellen.
