Lovely clean room with lots of additional touches to make the stay extra special.

The Horngarth is located in a lovely part of Whitby, close to the shops, but far enough away from the noise of the night folk. We had travelled by train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and our walk from the station took no more than fifteen minutes at a slowish pace.

The room was tastefully decorated and laid out in such a way that it almost didn't feel like you were sharing the room with the bed. The shower room/toilet was exceptionally clean and modern with big fluffy bathrobes waiting to be discovered in the wardrobe in the main room. It was a lovely surprise to find the goodies that were left for us - breakfast cereals with real milk, ample chilled water, fresh orange juice (IN A BOTTLE!), a variety of snacks and crisps, and some of the most addictive biscuits I've ever had. Luckily the shop where they are made is just down the road, so we were able to stock up to take some home with us.

We were only in Whitby for one night, but we wished we’d stayed for longer.

First time staying here and it was excellent. Great extra touches in the room were unexpected bonus. Will be staying here again when in Whitby.

We had an amazing stay. The hosts could not be more helpful when needed. Plenty of useful information provided to help with our stay. The room was spotless and spacious and beautifully decorated. We will definitely stay again when visiting the area.

Room was perfect. Comfortable, clean, well presented. Great location. Lots of unexpected extras to elevate our stay. Extra comforts included, robes, slippers, fridge, fan and even drinks and snacks. Exceeded expectations.

We visit Whitby five or six times a year and have stayed in many of the hotels on offer. However, last night we both agreed that The Horngarth has been the best one so far.
In short: the hosts/owners are amazing, the hotel and room were immaculate, plenty of treats were provided, and the location is perfect. That’s usually where I’d finish writing my review, but I feel this place deserves more than that.

Before we even set off to Whitby, we felt welcome and well informed about our stay at The Horngarth. Emma and Antony sent a detailed and well thought out message covering check-in, parking, and suggestions to help us make the most of our stay in Whitby. Links for each of the suggestions were included, which was very handy. We ended up having breakfast at Rusty Shears, one of their recommendations, and it was great!

Closer to the date of our arrival, we received detailed instructions on finding and entering the property. If you are anxious about staying somewhere new, having all this information available really helps. There is, of course, a number to contact if you run into any issues(though we didn't need it).

Not long after we arrived in Whitby, we received a message letting us know that our room was ready. This was hours before our official check-in time, though I can’t say that will always be the case.
The entrance was easy to find thanks to the instructions. It is only a short walk from the harbour, with plenty of pubs along the way (if you need some encouragement). The street itself wasn’t extremely busy, but there were people around, which is how we like it.
The keypad system to get into the building worked flawlessly. We made our way up through the very clean hallway and stairs to Room 6. A letter was waiting for us, which contained a warm greeting and extra information such as the Wi-Fi code and contact details.

As soon as we opened the door to Room 6, our first impressions were how clean, inviting, and cosy the room felt.

Excellent location, excellent room will definitely use again.

Emma and Antony were fantastic! They messaged us prior to our arrival with helpful with information about the property and local area, the room had a great view and was comfortable, and it was in a great location. Parking was easy with clear instructions from Emma. Would highly recommend!
