It’s remoteness
The mirror in our bedroom on the top floor, was too high for me to see into (5.3ins)!
A fantastic exceptional hotel
Nothing everything fantastic
Wspanialy hotel w samym sercu przepieknej natury. Widok z hotelu, ogrod, jedzenie i bardzo przyjazny personel dał niezapomniane wrażenia.
Hotel serwuje przepyszne jedzenie.
Cudownie bylo sluchac spiewu ptakow i podziwiac gory i jezioro.
Bardzo dziekujemy za wspaniala goscine ( specjalnie podziekowania dla pani Katarzyny).
Amazing location, beautiful building and grounds, super dog friendly, peaceful and quiet, stunning views, nearby trails of varying difficulty.
It was in a great location, cosy great atmosphere and amazing food with great people
Nice location on the shore of Haweswater with lake views from bar and dining room . Not good for low mobility access, although when asked staff helped with baggage to the top floor. Interesting and stylish 1930s decor, although not particularly comfortable. Bedroom impressively small but bath was welcome. Heating not possible to regulate. Nice toiletries. Coffee bags in the room but no fresh milk. . Good food with apparent local provenance and inspiration. Good breakfast choices .
Handy alternative stay to Bampton when walking C2C
Pokey room , lack of offers of help from staff without always having to ask .
We had two excellent dinners here with a balanced choice and good wine list. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The view from the hotel is stunning. Very quiet location.
Our room was tiny, and the bathroom even more so. No toiletries apart from the basics. Breakfast was very Premier Inn, cereal in boxes etc. The hotel is shabby and definitely not chic. It's quirky and a bit weird. Definitely not 4 star but with 5 star prices.
Beautifully designed hotel.
We liked everything.
The position of the hotel, the view from our room. The room decor and the decor in the hotel. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff very friendly and obliging.
The food and drinks were overpriced.
Stunning location, beautiful art deco interiors, excellent food
Noise from the roof space, possibly a bird or rodent nest?
Beautiful location and hotel. Well staffed. Stayed here back in 2017 too.
Bed wasn't very comfortable and duvet too warm for the room temperature. No red squirrels in the garden this time. But most importantly, very noisy guest in nearby room, so not much sleep. The wooden floors throughout are obviously an additional cause of disturbance if you're like me, sensitive to such things, especially after a 400mile drive.
The hotel is stylish and in a beautiful quiet location. The staff were friendly and always happy to help. We stayed in the High Street room which had an amazing view across the lake.

Great location, interesting building with history
Rooms are a bit noisy
Great place, lovely interior feel.
The quality of the food at breakfast could have been better - eg. better muesli rather than Alpen, better bread for the toast. I have been happy with less quantity.
Dinner in the evening was rather expensive, perhaps we shouldn't have had puddings!
Staff were great and the restaurant first class
We were in a room on 2nd floor - low beams were an issue especially above toilet, and much of space could not be used. Little space between foot of bed and bathroom
